Thank You for Giving Thanks! |

Thank you for once again showing your generosity through our Thanksgiving Food Offering. On November 21 you graciously gave 490 boxes of food, each of which will feed a family of four for three days. This translates to a total of 5,880 days worth of food to help 1960 people make it through a few days each without having to worry about where their next meal is coming from.
Below is a breakdown of how the food boxes were shared to help make the lives of others a bit better:

42 Along Side ministries

Christmas Eve Offering 2010 |
This year's Christmas Eve Offering is focused on one of the least reached regions of the country of Indonesia--the island of Sumatra. Sumatra is the sixth largest island in the world. It is also one of the regions where we find the largest number of Muslim cultural/language groups with no known believers or churches.
Bethany's partner in Indonesia, Chahaya Suku, has a group of 21 church planters living and serving among some of these people groups in South Sumatra. Only in the last 18 months have they begun to see significant spiritual fruit for their labor. They report that just from January through August of this year they have seen 483 people attending seeker Bible studies, 34 people put their faith in Christ and 13 new house churches established. This is truly amazing among these groups where there were previously no known followers of Christ. God is truly blessing their efforts.
However, just as the fruit is beginning to ripen, this team's very existence is in jeopardy. The funding needed to support the 21 missionary families has virtually dried up. The total monthly budget needed to support the 21 families is $7,000 ($300 per family). Currently, they are only receiving support of $2,000 per month.
This is where we can step in as a church. Through our Christmas Eve Offering 2010, we can provide emergency bridge funding over a three year period to help the work move forward while they develop a new, sustainable support base among Indonesian churches.
Our goal:
2011 $3,000 per month $36,000 annual
2012 $2,000 per month $24,000 annual
2013 $1,000 per month $12,000 annual
$72,000 TOTAL
Any gifts received above this amount will be allocated to Bethany's General Fund to continue supporting our minstires on this campus, in our community and around the world.
Chahaya Suku has been our faithful partner in Indonesia for over five years. Chahaya Suku recruits, trains and deploys teams of Indonesian church planters to reach out to Muslim people groups in their own country. Indonesia is the world's largest Muslim country, with more Muslims than in all other countries of the Middle East combined. Our experience with Chahaya Suku is that when Indonesian Muslims have the chance to hear and understand the good news of Jesus Christ in their own cultural setting, they are responsive and often put their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
Let's all pray and prepare our hearts to give to Christ and his work in Indonesia.

... I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me. ~ Matthew 25:40

IHELP
The 40 IHELP guests who spent the Thanksgiving Holiday on Bethany's campus want to say, Thank you, thank you, thank you! for your hospitality and generosity throughout the year, and for your specific kindness in providing each with a gift card totaling $35 in value.

- 165 individuals engaged in Case Management Services
- 45 individuals obtained vital documentation
- 101 individuals obtained government benefits
- 75 individuals obtained employment
- 60 individuals obtained housing
Budget information for TCAA's IHELP Program
IHELP is primarily funded through TCAA and the many faith-based congregations and volunteers dedicated to the program's success. The IHELP yearly budget is approximately $120,000.
The In-Kind Value of IHELP (this includes volunteers' time, donated lodging space, meals and hygiene items) is approximately $400,000 annually.
If you would like to make a direct financial contribution to TCAA and the IHELP program, this can be done through the Working Poor Tax Credit. Please indicate that the contribution is for the IHELP program (as there are other programs covered by this tax credit). Children First Academy (CFA)
A big, heartwarming THANK YOU! to everyone who has been donating so faithfully to CFA this year and over the past few years. Everything you have given has been much appreciated by the school and/or the families.
Remember, we need things for babies through adults, not just for the students. I wish each of you could see the smiles on the faces of the children when they get to choose new sets of clothes!! Lists of current needs can be found on the Children First Academy of Tempe web site.
Again, thank you and may God bless each one of you through the holiday season and through the coming year. Have a merry Christmas!
If you would like additional information on this program, you can reach me at montgomery49@cox.net or 480.775.1771.

Prayer of Invitation |
For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on His shoulders. And He will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. ~ Isaiah 9:6
As we celebrate the coming of the Lord this Christmas season, let us remember to pray for those who have not made a personal decision to follow Jesus as their Savior. Let's remember that Christ came into the world to save sinners. ~ 1 Timothy 1:15
Let's pray specifically for those in our community (families, co-workers, neighbors and friends) and pray for opportunities to share the meaning of Christmas and salvation in Christ. Let's pray that the Holy Spirit invites the lost to hear the message and to open their ears and make their hearts receptive to that message. May our prayers open lines of communication between the lost and the Lord. And may our Lord, in answering our prayers, make us aware once again of His awesome gift of everlasting life through the birth, life, death and resurrection of His son Jesus.
God Bless you as you continue on this journey of prayer.

A trip to Israel, the land of the Bible, the place where Jesus lived and carried out his ministry, is more than just an entertaining and educational vacation, it can be a truly inspiring and faith-building experience.
Join Dr. David Denyer, Bethany elder and retired seminary professor of Old Testament and Mediterranean Archeology, and other Bethany members on a ten-day visit to the Holy land June 15-26, 2011.

MSM Fall Lock-In Recap |
The MSM Fall Lock-In was a huge success! A new record of 71 middle school students (including lots of new kids) came out for an awesome night of fun games, activities, jumping, movies, food and more.
Part of the night included two hours of jumping at Airworx in Chandler, a brand new trampoline entertainment center. Everyone had a great time trying to slam dunk on the trampoline court; smashing each other with dodgeballs; attempting various tricks on the trampolines; participating in races, jumping contests and lots of other activities. I also had the opportunity to share with the kids about Jesus in a brief lesson, and approximately ten kids accepted Jesus! Please join me in praising God for what He has done!
Middle schoolers, stay tuned for information on our next Lock-In which will take place early in the new year. I can't wait!

iRUN for IHELP Training |
Recently a group of middle school students, high school students and a few adults began training for the P.F. Chang's Rock 'n' Roll Half Marathon in January.
We have been gathering every Saturday morning for long group runs. We have now built up to about eight miles and are preparing for race day. I'm so proud of everyone for training with us. A really great thing about this group is that we are doing this all for the homeless people of Tempe. Each participant is required to raise at least $100, which will be donated to IHELP, Tempe's Interfaith Homeless Emergency Lodging Program.
Would you like to support our training group? There are several students participating in this program that would love your prayer and financial support. Another way you can support us is by wearing one of our brand new, just-arrived, custom shirts. These are technical sports shirts and are available for only $20. Please consider buying one of these shirts to support our group. The shirts are available in my office--see me when you're ready to try one on! They look AWESOME and have a great Bible verse on the back. Finally, you can also help us by passing out Gatorade or timing us on a Saturday morning. We could use some help with this, so please let me know if you'd be willing to come serve--it's easy and can be done on a one-time basis!

Get Tax Credit for Helping BLC Pre-Schoolers |
Did you know that you can donate up to $1000* to be used for grants or scholarships to a private school and get the total amount credited back to you at tax time?
Bethany Learning Center (BLC) would like you to prayerfully consider this state tax benefit and request BLC as the recipient when you donate. Kindergarten enrollment is drastically down due to the economy, and BLC needs your help to fund scholarships for those who are otherwise unable to attend. This is such a wonderful opportunity to reach out to those families who know Christ, as well as those who don't know Him yet.
For additional information on the tax credit, contact Maryellen Hawkinson at the Arizona Christian School Tuition Organization, Inc. (ACSTO), 480.838.3933, or refer to their web site at www.acsto.org. For more information on Bethany Learning Center, call 480.838.2440 or visit www.blcforjesus.org.
*Up to $500 for singles or $1000 for a couple filing jointly.
