Join Us at the Elder Meeting Tonight! |
The monthly meeting of the Elders is open for everyone to attend. Come and learn more about how our Elders guide our church. Elders meet the first Wednesday of every month at 6pm in D3. |
Head Out to the Diamondbacks Game with Jeremy Camp in Concert! |
Bethany family--on Friday, September 24 at 6:40pm, the Arizona Diamondbacks are taking on the Los Angeles Dodgers, and Bethany will be attending! Last year, we watched the Diamondbacks game, followed by fireworks and a Mercy Me concert. This year, we have a chance to see the amazing Christian artist, Jeremy Camp. Some of Jeremy Camp's most famous songs include I Still Believe, Walk By Faith, Beautiful One, and more!
Last year, over 250 Bethany people came out to the event, and we were able to raise over $1,300 for our church's general fund. This year, we have the same opportunity--tickets are $15 each, and $5 from each ticket sold comes right back to Bethany.
This year's event is an amazing chance to Get Together and build community! Even if you're not a huge fan of baseball or the Diamondbacks, come on out and enjoy a night with your Bethany family.
Additionally, this event is a way to Get Out. Invite your friends who don't attend Bethany. Many people may not be interested in coming to church, but they very well may come to a baseball game. After the game, one of the Diamondbacks Christian players will share his testimony before Jeremy Camp performs.
I hope many of you will take advantage of this awesome opportunity. Purchase your tickets online now! Tickets will be available for pick-up in the courtyard on September 12 and 19 or in the church office during the week.

Bethany Gains Two Interns |
Help us welcome our two new ministry interns! Jade Yellis has moved here from Southern California with his new wife, Amy (formerly Huizingh). He is interning with the High School Ministry, serving students and their families. Jade will be here Tuesdays and Thursdays and, of course, whenever students are around. If you're in Target by Fiesta Mall, stop by the Starbucks, where he's a manager, and say hello. We're so excited about having him in our two-year internship program--he is an incredibly gifted writer and communicator and excellent with students. He is a wonderful addition to the HSM Staff team! We also have Dan Mains serving with Missional Life (Outreach), working Mondays and Wednesdays with John Wood. Dan has an amazing heart for other people and is drawn to Mexico where he is has taken university classes and recently attended the DNA Vision conference in Mexico City. His passion for life is contagious, serving in the Middle School Ministry with Josh Harper for several years as a volunteer staff member. He is musically talented and really interesting to talk with, so stop by and say, Hi! to Dan! - Dave Robinson, High School Pastor |

IHELP (Yes, the hyphen has been dropped by TCAA.)
The IHELP summer schedule ended in August. Thanks to everyone who made it happen by picking up the additional requirements of the expanded schedule for June, July and August. Bethany, through its members, hosted our neighborhood homeless guests 12 times! Several of these hostings included the use of the mobile shower and, yes, that meant more laundry. The meals for most of these hostings were provided by churches other than Bethany. God is faithful--He provided someone to get it all done. Praise the Lord!
With the start of fall programming and Bethany using the H building, our IHELP hostings will be dramatically reduced. Our regular schedule for hostings the rest of the year will be the fourth Sunday of each month (this will include providing a meal). In September, Bethany will also host and provide a meal, on Monday, September 6, Labor Day.
There may be occasional additional hostings over the rest of the year. Details of these ongoing hostings and opportunities will included in the intra-ministry e-mails. Additionally, information is on the Bethany website.
If you are not on the e-mail list and would like to be, please contact Cheryl Chamberlain, cheryllnn2u@yahoo.com, 480.838.5188, or Gen Garan, bggaran@earthlink.net, 480.839.4674.

Healing Prayer |
Jesus of Nazareth was a man accredited by God to you by miracles, wonders and signs, which God did among you through Him. ~ Acts 2:22
When evening came He drove out the spirits with a word and healed the sick. ~ Matt 8:16
Does God still do miracles, wonders and signs among us? Of course He does! Does He still heal the sick? You bet! So what is our responsibility? As the friends of the paralytic brought him to Jesus by lowering him through the roof, and as the Centurion brought his request for his servant's healing directly to Jesus, so must we do the same through prayer.
The Bible tells us that Christ is seated at the right hand of God interceding for us. We can take part in that beautiful ministry of Jesus by bringing to Him our family, friends, neighbors, and even enemies, so that He may intercede on their behalf before the Father. And He who performed miracles of salvation and healing before will do the same again as we pray for His will to be done on earth as it is in heaven. God Bless you on your journey.

Do you or someone you know need prayer? Please let us pray with you and for you.

Announcing the 2010-2011 Choir! |
Psalm 13:6 says, I will sing to the Lord, for he has been good to me. We at Bethany Community Church have lots of reasons to lift our voices to the Lord! And the Worship & Arts Ministry is inviting more to join in. We are thrilled to be forming our choir for the 2010-2011 ministry season, with gorgeous, accessible and fun sacred music--but, we cannot do this without voices.
Being a part of Worship & Arts is being a part of a community within a community (and only one of many at Bethany). It's a family that shares a gifting and a passion for music and personal growth--both artistically and spiritually. It's a community with a desire to declare the truth about God and give offerings to Him and encouragement to people through song.
Rehearsals will be on Sunday mornings, beginning October 3, from 7 to 8:30, with plenty of stout coffee and doughnuts.
If you are interested in singing in the choir this season (or playing in the instrumental ensemble), please contact Dwight Brewer, dbrewer@bethanycc.com or 602.301.1370 as soon as possible so that we can get acquainted and sing to the Lord . . . Glory to God!
