Family Reunion |
"Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn." Romans 12:15
Please pray for the family of Emmalene King who went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 29. Emmalene was Judith Risinger's mother.
Ken Cowles, brother of Stan Cowles, passed away Sunday, February 17. Please remember Ken's wife, Pauline, and the rest of the Cowles family in prayer for comfort and peace.
Pray for Joel and Claire Ring following the loss of their 6 week old daughter, Peyton Gabriella, who passed away unexpectedly on Friday, February 22.
Dale and Kathy Huizingh would like to express their sincere gratitude for the many prayers and expresssions of kindness after the death of Kathy's mother, Evelyn Swinney. Evelyn, 75, was diagnosed with lung cancer on January 18 and peacefully went home to the Lord in the early morning hours of Saturday, February 23. |
Easter Offering |
The Bethany Outreach team rejoices at what God is accomplishing through the people of Bethany around the world. The generosity of the congregation continually amazes us. Just as we bless international outreach projects with a Christmas Eve offering, Bethany is likewise committed to meeting needs in our more immediate neighborhoods. This year the entire Easter offering will be dedicated to that pursuit.
Community Outreach Ministries seeks ways to serve like Jesus by entering into local communities, meeting physical needs with His amazing love and teaching about His amazing grace. With so many opportunities to partner with local ministries, we found it difficult to choose. This year we have decided to apply the offering as follows:
- $43K to Habitat for Humanity. This will fund one half of a house which gives us first opportunity for almost 190 volunteer build slots. In addition, it will offer an opportunity for the people of Bethany to reach out in friendship to the owner-family by providing meals on Bethany build days and any other creative ways we can think of to serve as we share the Good News.
- $7K to Hope Community Health Center. This is a new ministry that provides basic healthcare to the uninsured in conjunction with spiritual counseling and a full assessment of job and living conditions and needs. With our support HCHC can purchase equipment that will allow them to expand services.
The total goal is $50K. Any contributions received over and above the goal will be dedicated to 2008 community outreach efforts.
Check out the Community Outreach Web page for information on these or other community ministries. If you are looking for suggestions on matching your passion with a service opportunity, please feel free to contact Bethany's Community Outreach Ministries Director, Peggy Levesque at plevesque@bethanycc.com.

Community Outreach Ministries |
Community Outreach Sunday
On March 9, once again the people of Bethany will have an opportunity to look beyond our own very real problems for those who are hungry, thirsty, sick, in prison, or in need of clothing or a warm bed. Jesus told us that whenever we address the need of "one of the least of these brothers" of His, we do it for Him. We invite you to browse through the booths in search of just the right ministry to serve with your talents, abilities and desires. So many good things are happening on our campus, and ministry representatives are excited about the opportunity to share them with you. Come prepared to spend some time pursuing God's call.
Neighborhood Transformation Training
God desires to give all who will turn to him a hope and a future. He yearns to reach into the lives of the poor to transform them as well as their neighborhoods into cities "on a hill that cannot be hidden." This year Bethany will begin to follow God's heart in a nearby community. To better equip us for this task, on April 4-5 Community Outreach Ministries will team up with LifeWind International and Living Faith Anglican Church, among others, to present the first 14-hour training on neighborhood transformation. The second 14 hours of this training is scheduled for October 10-11. Learn strategies for entering a community with the purpose of transforming lives, neighborhoods and cities through the seamless combination of spiritual growth, building on local assets and community-owned development. Celebrate Community Service!
The people of Bethany have been very busy serving our neighbors like Jesus. Here are two examples:
Single Vision Faith Community joined up with others from Bethany to work on the Quintero family's Habitat for Humanity house. This house will be dedicated on March 1.
Bethany Bikers and Black Sheep - submitted by Tom Anthony
Eight Bethany Bikers and twenty-three Black Sheep ministered to the members of Foothills HOG and Chandler Harley Davidson. They performed a wedding vow renewal service for 10 couples. It was a very meaningful service including scripture and prayer and sponsored by the management of the dealership! After the service, they handed out booklets called "Applying Grace in Marriage" by Chuck Swindoll. They had several opportunities to pray with customers at the dealership and even held a bike blessing later in the day. The management of the dealership has asked that this be an annual event and has already made plans to make it bigger next year. It was truly a beautiful day! |

If your child knows Christ as their personal Savior and is ready to be baptized, there will be a child baptism class on Sunday, April 6 at 10:45am in D3. One parent must attend the class with his or her child. Registration is required.

It's the perfect opportunity for couples to refine their relationship and focus on "us" instead of "me". More details to come. | |
