Lets Roll!
This myofascial release of the outer thigh benefits everybody! The Iliotibial Band (ITB) is a tough band of connective tissue that runs the length of outer thigh and that when tight actually pulls the kneecap out of alignment, causing friction and pain in the knee, hip and elsewhere.
Office workers often find their ITB's to be painfully tight from frequent sitting but the most common group of people who are affected are those who take up a cardio exercise program after a long break (especially runners and cyclists) - such as those who decide to start training for the City to Surf only a few months prior to the event, without having kept up a regular running routine.
So, get started now! We wont kidd you, this is usually a very painful release at first but once your ITB begins to let go and return to normal tension, you won't believe how much better you can feel. Not only that but the tension in your quads and hip flexors will start to reduce which will allow your core stability to improve! So.....lets roll!
