Happy New Year to you!!  We hope that 2012 brings you all the good health, vitality and happiness you wish for.   

 

We have had a restful and relaxing break but are itching to get back to to the mat and help you start your new year feeling leaner, taller and simply amazing really.

 

We reopen in just a few days, on Monday 9 January with our special summer timetable.   We have the most amazing specialised classes each Monday, Wednesday and Friday morning in January - never before offered and not to be repeated!  You simply don't know how great you can feel until you experience one of Karin's specialised classes!

Later this month we are offering a fantastic FREE workshop - "Understanding Your Pelvic Floor" on Saturday 21st January.  Places are strictly limited so be sure to book your place right now.

Balance Your Shoulders

Monday 9, Wednesday 11 & Friday 13 January

8.15am - 9.15am

Shoulders usually need more than the occasional rub.  To feel relaxed and strong they need to be balanced on a spacious ribcage, an elogated spine and a level pelvis.

Contemporary Pilates trains the body as a whole but we will give your shoulders special attention in these special classes.  Using balls and bands, you will release pesky tensions in hard to reach places and at the same time strengthen your shoulders and back.  After all, open and balanced shoulders are a symbol of grace, and throwing a ball, lifting a child or swinging a golf club is so much more pleasant when your arms and neck move without restriction. 

Come along to my classes and do yourself something good for yourself this week.  You will come away with simple releases you can use whenever you need them!

Myofascial Release
Monday 16, Wednesday 18 & Friday 20 January
8.15am - 9.15am

"Myo" refers to muscles, while "fascia" refers to our connective tissue.  Myofascial training is at the very forefront of therapy and exercise, as opposed to purely muscle training that was the focus of the past. 
  
Karin is a qualified structural integration therapist and movement teacher and she loves to combine the benefits of fascial releases with holistic whole body training.

 

We will use small props and specific techniques to release unwanted tensions and of course Contemporary Pilates to improve functional strength and increase your body's natural elasticity.
 
By the way, there is more to fascial release than releasing your thighs on a foam roller :)

Walkers and Runners 
Monday 23, Wednesday 25 & Friday 27 January
8.15am - 9.15am

Are you enthusiastic about walking?  Or are you a passionate runner like Karin?  Or maybe you don't love either that much but you want to feel the best you can in anything you do...

Karin will combine Contemporary Pilates exercises suitable for all levels with Pilates Slings (myofascial fitness based exercises).  The training will improve your gait and add spring to your step, while still addressing the whole body (after all, your legs are not running on their own!)
