Greetings!

Here we are right in the middle of summer and what a heat wave it has been!!!  Let us help you prevent summer meltdowns with these cool suggestions of great places to go to keep you and your kids happy throughout the rest of the summer.

As a fun way to keep cool in the hot sun, children both  young and old will enjoy splash pads, wading pools and water parks.  Toddlers can enjoy playing with smaller spray jets at splash pads in Hendon Park in North York or Pottery Playground in Davisville.

When the weather is hot these homemade bubbles are great for outdoor fun.  At Cool Tools Summer Camp, our kids are enjoying making their own bubbles and wands.

Enjoy making these with your children.

Homemade Bubbles

1 cup water

2 tablespoons glycerin

4 tablespoons dishwashing liquid.

Mix together

Homemade Coloured Bubbles

1 cup granulated soap or soap powder

1 quart warm water

liquid food colouring

Bubble Wands

Bend pipe cleaners into fun shapes and attach to a stick to create a wand.  You can also help older kids shape giant wands with metal coat hangers.  You can get really creative by using the following items from your kitchen:

  • slotted spoons
  • funnels
  • mason jar lid rings
  • cookie cutters
  • cocktail strainers
