Fathers Day Tye

Greetings!  

 

It's hard to believe another school year is almost over! Just a few more weeks to go until the summer vacation starts.

 

This month, not only do we celebrate Father's Day but, we also celebrate the first day of summer.

 

At last, summer is almost here! You can kick back and enjoy life, but what's there to do but be lazy?  Well, read this article and you'll find out what summer vacation is all about! There are so many things you can do, both with family or friends. (Read more)

A great way to connect with your kids is in the kitchen. Here are some great kid-friendly recipes for you to try with your child. 

  

Iced Banana and Chocolate Smoothie
Serves 4 per recipe
 
Peel bananas, chop and wrap in a plastic wrap to freeze so they are ready to blend in this lovely icy smoothie. 
 
2 cups reduced fat milk
200g tub reduced fat natural yogurt
1 large frozen chopped banana
2 tb. drinking cholcolate.
 
Combine milk, yogurt, banana and chocolate in a blender.  Blend until thick and smooth.  Pour into serving glasses and enjoy this healthy snack with your child.
 
Here are some healthy organic snack ideas for you and your child to put together:
 
Fruit skewers - simply cut any fresh fruit in season into bite size chunks and alternate on wooden or bamboo skewers with grapes.
 
Some other 'on the go' snacks:
 
  • Dried fruits such as organic raisins, dates, apricots.
  • Frozen grapes.
  • Carrots, celery and pita triangles with hummus dipping sauce.
  • Ants on a log (celery with peanut butter and raisins).
  • Banana pops (dip in yogurt,roll in crushed grains, and freeze).
  • A bowl of mixed raw nuts.

 SUMMER CAMP PROGRAMS

 

COOL TOOLS

 

Weekly programs to help children develop positive social skills, build self esteem, and learn strategies to deal with their anger in appropriate and acceptable ways.  Children will develop new skills in a safe and supportive camp setting through activity based programs which include expressive art activities, cooperative games, out-door play and discussions. Children are grouped according to their grade and age.

 

LETS BE FRIENDS

 

Weekly programs that are play-based to teach social skills in a fun and stimulating environment.  Children will learn to share, listen, follow directions, take turns, enter play with peers and identify feelings of oneself and others. The facilitator is a registered Early Childhood Educator.

  

 
The SMART MOVES GROUP will help the gifted child develop positive social skills, build self-esteem and resilience, learn strategies to deal with their uncomfortable feelings eg. anger and anxiety and help them regulate their emotions. Children are taught to stand up for themselves in positive ways, encouraged to advocate for themselves and to reach out to others in order to build and sustain friendships. 
 
Children will develop new skills in a discussion and activity based program which includes role-playing, expressive art activities and cooperative games.

 

This group is a learning environment where the children learn to better understand emotions by exploring cognitive behavioural strategies for calming down, and perceiving other's more accurately.

Children are grouped according to age and grade.
