Celebrations of Peace
Community Involvement

September 11 Memorial Performance at Lake Eola

Select members of Central Florida Community Choir volunteered their time and joined with hundreds of community members to reflect on September 11 during "Celebrations of Peace" sponsored by Christ Church Unity.  This family-friendly annual event, held this year on Sept. 10 at Lake Eola, included inspirational speakers, vocalists and theatrical reenactments, combined with a community walk around this downtown Orlando lake, all geared toward a positive message of recognizing our unity and celebrating peace everywhere.

Central Florida Community Choir performed four songs: Golden Dream, made famous by Disney's "Voices of Liberty", Give Me Your Tired, based on the famous Statue of Liberty poem, Seasons of Love from "Rent", and finally closing Celebrations of Peace with a Beatles Medley that inspired the audience to sing along before giving a standing ovation!

LogoOur Heartbeat

The heartbeat of Central Florida Community Arts centers around giving back to our community by partnering with local non-profits and performing at their charitable events or fundraisers. In 2011 we have (or soon will) perform for non-profits such as Catholic Charities, the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, Runway to Hope, Christian HELP, Children of the Nations, HOPE Helps and Operation Safety 91.

Which local charities are near and dear to your heart? What local non-profit group has helped you or a loved one in a time of need?  Do you or someone you know work or volunteer for a charitable organization in the Central Florida area?  We may be able to help.

If interested in having Central Florida Community Choir perform for a local fundraiser or charitable event, please contact our Director of Community Involvement, Sharon Hegedus.

In addition to serving, uplifting and brightening the hearts of performers and audiences alike in Central Florida,  Central Florida Community Arts aspires to give back to the community by partnering with local organizations.  With your help, we can:

  • Offer scholarships to struggling artists who would otherwise be unable to join our choir
  • Prepare and perform inspirational programs for local nonprofit organizations including, United Global Outreach, Coalition for the Homeless, and the Central Florida Children's Home Society, just to name a few.
Epcot Candlelight Processional

Candlelight 2

The response has been incredible! Central Florida Community Choir is planning to perform at Epcot's memorable Candlelight Processional during the 2011 Christmas season, and once we invited community members to join us, new applications started arriving daily!

In September more than 170 singers gathered to rehearse two arrangements and produce our audition video for Disney casting directors to review. We anticipate Disney will offer CFCC more than one opportunity to perform this season.

In next month's newsletter, we will announce our performance dates.  Come hear us sing!
