Welcome!
We at Central Florida Community Arts are excited to share our first newsletter with you! Here we can share up-to-the-minute information about the wonderful accomplishments and upcoming events happening in our organization, such as our choir and orchestra concerts, workshops, fundraisers and community partnership events where CFCA continuously gives back to the Central Florida community.
In September 2010, an idea emerged to create a cultural platform for every musician to join an artistic family and become part of an inspirational music experience. After months of planning, Central Florida Community Choir kicked off its first season with 150 members, presenting its inaugural concert, Salute to American Heroes, in May 2011. The choir's phenomenal success inspired us to create Central Florida Community Orchestra starting this August, and early next year we will kickoff a new children's and youth choir and musical theater program!
We could not have achieved these amazing accomplishments in less than one year without the dedication of our performers, the hard work of our devoted volunteer staff, and our shared vision to support the arts and community service in Central Florida. The future for Central Florida Community Arts couldn't be brighter!
We sincerely thank you for your support, and hope you will help spread the word to other singers and musicians, patrons of the arts, and charitable organizations around Central Florida by sharing this newsletter.

Ragtime: A Concert Musical
| | |
August 13, 7:30 PM, and August 14, 2:00 PM
Wayne Densch Performing Arts Center
203 South Magnolia Avenue, Sanford
Central Florida Community Choir and the Seminole Repertory Theater present a concert-musical fundraiser for the Wayne Densch Performing Arts Center, presenting staged readings from an American Classic.
Ragtime is not only a powerful portrait of life in turn-of-the-century America, but a relevant tale for today. Based on E.L. Doctorow's distinguished novel, the musical intertwines the stories of three extraordinary families as they confront history's timeless contradictions of wealth and poverty, freedom and prejudice, hope and despair, and what it means to live in America.
The Tony-winning score by Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty is just as diverse as the melting pot of America itself. It draws upon many musical styles from the ragtime rhythms of Harlem and Tin Pan Alley to the klezmer of the Lower East Side, from bold brass band marches to delicate waltzes, from up-tempo banjo tunes to period parlor songs and expansive anthems.
