Celebrating 28 years

"There is nothing more admirable than two people who see eye-to-eye keeping house as man and wife, confounding their enemies and delighting their friends."

Lessons from Samson and Delilah

by Connie Cowans

Pastors Denis and Lorna Wade put together a powerful series on love and relationships, and powerfully delivered the Word of God in a way that left me and others craving for more!

In our interactive Bible teaching we read about Samson's mother being barren and how "the Angel of the Lord appeared to her" (Judges 13:3). We continued to read the entire story about Samson and a number of things stood out to me:

  1. The pre-incarnate Christ appeared to Samson's mother! Wow - this blew me away! I and others went away and researched it to find that it's true.
  2. Clear and specific instructions were given to Samson's parents on how they should raise him.
  3. The choices we make in life can have devastating consequences when we choose to stray from the path God has for us.
  4. Even though we sometimes do things that displease God, His love for us is unconditional.
  5. Nagging can have deadly consequences! We read how Samson gave in to the Delilah's nagging, and it ended his life.

I could go on and on about what we learnt, but just to recap: God knows what He's doing and as Christians we can fulfil the things that He requires of us, as long as we stay connected to Him.

I encourage everyone to attend on Wednesday night, as the Word of God is absolutely amazing!

Read about Samson's life in Judges 13-16 online here. Our next interactive Bible teaching session is tomorrow at 7.15pm, starting with a meal.

Mothering Sunday, 18th March

We are tied to our mothers in ways we can never know. On Sunday 18th March we have the chance to say how much our mothers, or significant female figures in our lives, mean to us.

Join us at Micah for a special service at 11.30am, featuring special presentations and a guest speaker.
