New Year's Eve at Micah!

by Kibibe Bailey

It was that one day of every year that brings about celebration, expectancy and huge excitement: New Year's Eve at Micah!

I, for one, would not call it just an ordinary service leaving little to the imagination, but more a celebratory event with a surprisingly wide variety of performances and ministry expressing praises to the King.

This year saw about a change in true Caribbean style, as Jadee from Trinidad was the headlining special guest to grace the stage, bringing us true soca rhythms (and exercise!!) straight from the Trindadian islands.

The atmosphere was electric from the very beginning. Just a few hours from countdown the worship team started off by leading us into reflecting and appreciating the year we had just had, and encouraged us to give praise for the year to come. It brought about such a vibrant atmosphere, you couldn't help but dance!

In such a short space of time the congregation managed to enjoy personal yet relatable testimonies from Micah members, appropriate prayer topics, drama, dance, songs and a highly inspiring message from the Man of the House, Pastor Denis Wade (play it here).

The night ended with the food and drinks reception downstairs and a DJ, where we could all get acquainted, nibble on some light refreshments and, in true Micah style, shake a leg!!

No doubt this year's New Year's Eve event will supersede all expectations. Bigger and better ... roll on 2013!

Jadee: A Soca soul

by Kat Madriaga

Hailing all the way from the Caribbean islands of Trinidad and Tobago, Jadee returned to London by kicking off his London tour with gusto at Micah for our countdown service. And wow, we were certainly not short of jumping or waving with Caribbean Praise; you'd be forgiven if for a moment you thought you were transported to the hot island itself!

As a gospel soca artist, Jadee's infectious energy graced Micah Community Church once again and we were not disappointed. Playing tracks from his previous albums Altar Call and Get Back on Track, Jadee also performed his current single Paradise from forthcoming album Zion.

Jadee's response to his gospel soca ministry in London has been amazing. "People click to it so quickly", and with the vibe and connection he brings to the people it isn't hard to see why. Jadee loves to tour because he gets to bring a taste of Trinidad with him with the full anointing of the Lord.

2012 is set to be hectic with Jadee launching his fifth album (Zion) and further tours to Guyana, the US (New York and Atlanta) with a hopeful tour in Nigeria.

Jadee is touring London churches up until February and time permitting, will possibly give a farewell performance at Micah before he heads home to the sunny shores of Trinidad and Tobago.
