The power of the Word
"The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. "
- John 1:14
How amazing that since the beginning of creation God has been speaking to us! John's Gospel opens with the majestic statement: "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." (John 1:1)
God communicates with us in so many ways, but He chose to send Jesus as the Word, so that we could read and hear and understand and be saved.
There are many words associated with Christmas: gifts, trees, family, good will, mistletoe. For some, there are other words: loneliness, stress, tension, debt. Words have the power to heal or to hurt; to bring life or death.
This Christmas, take a moment to pause and listen to the miracle of the Word made flesh, actually living among us and in us. The Logos, or Divine Expression. Christ.
