Celebrating black history
As Black History Month approaches we pay tribute to and take pride in black contributions to society.

October gives us a chance to broaden our awareness of black history and honour those who have gone before and paved the way.
We have two events coming up at Micah that celebrate and explore different aspects of history and identity:
- Grandparents' Day | Sunday 2nd October 2011, 11.30am

We are very excited to be honouring the backbone of our society on Grandparents' Day this Sunday.
Many Caribbean and African grandparents (and great grandparents) living in the UK have come here since the 1950s. Some came on the Windrush and faced discrimination, culture shock and hardship to make a way for future generations.
This Sunday's service will be packed with special tributes and testimonies. It's not to be missed!
When the Queen of Sheba visited King Solomon in Israel she brought gifts with her. Little is known about her, but many believe that she ruled a wealthy kingdom in Africa.
Micah Women of Excellence will host a service and trip back in history on the last Sunday of the month to celebrate the contribution of this beautiful monarch, and explore what it means for us as women today.
This will also mark the first anniversary of Women of Excellence. Join us to celebrate our past, present and future.
