Did you know that May is California Water Awareness month?  To celebrate, the Castaic Lake Water Agency (CLWA) is hosting its annual Open House on Saturday, May 14, 2011 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.  Come join us!

 

In addition to Open House, CLWA is hosting a few FREE classes on Saturday, May 14:

  • SCV Friendly Gardening Class: Indoor and Outdoor Water Management beginning at
    9:00 a.m.
     
  • L.A. County Smart Gardening Class beginning at 9:30 a.m.
  • Weather-based Irrigation Controller Class beginning at 1:00 p.m. (space permitting)

CLWA's Annual Open House

 

CLWA Open House - May 14, 2011

  

The Castaic Lake Water Agency, will be hosting its annual Open House on Saturday, May 14, 2011 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.  Make sure to stop by and chat with your local water wholesaler and water retailer and be sure to check out the interactive Wyland Clean Water mobile learning center!

 

We are also giving away free items such as portable dog bowls, so feel free to bring your furry (leashed) friends.  Pet Expo USA will also be held in Central Park on May 14.

Water Treatment Operators' Expertise Keeps Reliable Supply Flowing

 

"Our job here is to bring in the raw water from Castaic Lake, and we treat it and filter it using several different processes in order to ensure that the water going out is of very high quality," said Pulido, one of nine Water Treatment Operators at the Castaic Lake Water Agency's Rio Vista and Earl Schmidt Water Treatment Plants.

High-Efficiency Toilet Rebates
  

If your home is older than 1992, you may qualify for a rebate of up to $115 for a new toilet, if you purchase a high-efficiency toilet (1.28 gallons per flush). Call your water retailers for details on this offer.

 

If you're interested in further research,  Maximum Performance testing has flushed tested over 1,700 toilets and rated them.
