Not for Sale Tour w/ The Wrecking National Recording Artists

"The Wrecking" are teaming up with The Not For Sale Campaign to make an impact in our community in the fight against modern day slavery!!

The tour will stop at EastPoint on Friday, February 10th. Doors open at 6:30 and the show starts at 7!

The tour combines great live music with inspirational stories and practical solutions straight from the front lines of the fight against human trafficking. Not For Sale equips and mobilizes activists to deploy innovative solutions to re-abolish slavery in their own backyards and across the globe, believing that together, we can end slavery in our lifetime!

The Wrecking is a rock band on a mission. Hailing from Portland Maine, they have consistently crisscrossed the continent playing music and raising a ruckus for causes they believe in. The event closes with an opportunity for listeners to step into the fight against slavery, and to become true modern day abolitionists: the very hands and feet of Christ!

Best of all IT'S FREE!!!

Discovering Luke

This weekend:

"Rich & Worry Free "

by Scott Taube

Luke 12:13-21

13 Someone in the crowd said to him, "Teacher, tell my brother to divide the inheritance with me."

14 Jesus replied, "Man, who appointed me a judge or an arbiter between you?"

15 Then he said to them, "Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions."

16 And he told them this parable: "The ground of a certain rich man yielded an abundant harvest.

17 He thought to himself, 'What shall I do? I have no place to store my crops.'

18 "Then he said, 'This is what I'll do. I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store my surplus grain.

19 And I'll say to myself, "You have plenty of grain laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry."'

20 "But God said to him, 'You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?'

21 "This is how it will be with whoever stores up things for themselves but is not rich toward God."

Spotlight on Marissa Gagnon

What is your role at EastPoint?
I am a member and a volunteer junior high school Fusion leader.

Why do you serve?
I serve because God loves me and it's hard to not love others.

Where do you and your family live?
I live in Portland.  I am getting married in October and look forward to starting a family.

Where are you originally from?
Saco, Maine T-H-O-R-N-T-O-N!

What is your educational background?
I graduated from Thornton Academy (see above) and got my bachelors from Springfield College.

What is your career background?
I worked in a sports marketing company called Octagon for five years then transitioned to the Michael Phelps Foundation. God has always compelled me to work with middle schoolers so I started working at Thornton Academy in early 2011.  I am currently part time at the Foundation and full time at Thornton, looking forward to teaching a couple classes in the fall of 2012.

What are your hobbies?
Spending time with family/friends, playing soccer and sardines.

What is your favorite Scripture(s)?
Great question,  I always go back to Romans 10:9-13 because it says it all. But generally God puts a scripture on my heart for where I am at the time. That if you confess with your mouth, Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.  For it is with your hear that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.  As the Scripture says, anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame. For there is no difference between Jew and Gentiles - the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, for, Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.
