Growth Opportunities

Join us each Thursday at 7pm at EP for the Young Adults and Campus Ministry Cafe.  We will enjoy some java, mingling and music in a relaxed, cafe-style atmosphere before coming together as a group.  The video series we will be viewing is called Nooma.
(click here to preview some videos)

After the video, we will discuss the message. We hope you can join us!

The best way to stay in the know about this ministry is via Facebook - make sure you friend us!

We are having our initial meeting for our annual mission trip to Lima, Peru on 22 May at 12:45 in the EP Room. The trip will be Nov 2-12, 2011. If you have any interest in hearing about the work being done in Lima and may have a desire to go on the mission trip, please join us.

Connect Class

If you want more information about baptism or becoming a member of EastPoint Christian Church, come to the Connect Class on Sunday, May 22 at 4:30 PM. This class will be held here at the warehouse. Sign up by e-mailing Alana or by using the Connect Card.

Sign up to serve!

We are still about 50 volunteers short of our goal which would allow for all three celebration services to function with ease.  If you have yet to make a commitment to serve at EP, there is still room to help with Children's Ministry, serving in First Impressions or as a Service Attendant. Respond using a SERVE brochure on Sunday or by following this link.

Jesus Questioned About Fasting

33They asked him, "John's disciples are well-known for keeping fasts and saying prayers. Also the Pharisees. But you seem to spend most of your time at parties. Why?"

34-35Jesus said, "When you're celebrating a wedding, you don't skimp on the cake and wine. You feast. Later you may need to pull in your belt, but this isn't the time. As long as the bride and groom are with you, you have a good time.

When the groom is gone, the fasting
can begin. No one throws cold water on
a friendly bonfire. This is Kingdom Come!

36-39"No one cuts up a fine silk scarf to patch old work clothes; you want fabrics that match. And you don't put wine in old, cracked bottles; you get strong, clean bottles for your fresh vintage wine. And no one who has ever tasted fine aged wine prefers unaged wine."

What is your role at EastPoint?

It has been a blessing attending Eastpoint Church for the last 2 years. I am happy to have found a church that meets all of my spiritual needs. Being part of any church family requires us to use our God given gifts for the glory of God. I love singing and harmonizing with others and am thrilled to be serving with so many talented musicians on the Eastpoint Worship team. It has been a fun transition going from a traditional Congregational choir for the last 18 years to a contemporary Christian band. The rehearsals and services are a tremendous way to worship our Lord.

Where do you live?
I grew up in South Portland, but have been living in the Olde Millbrook area of Scarborough for the last 18 years.

What is your educational background?
I went to college on a tennis scholarship down at Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida. My educational background has been in business and finance and for the last 25 years I have been working for Clark Insurance as a Business Insurance agent.

What are your hobbies?
I believe that variety is the spice of life, so I have many hobbies. I love the water, so boating, sailing and swimming are tops during the summer months. I am not much of a couch potato, so walking, hiking, bicycling and working out at the gym keep me in fairly good shape. Of course when you combine cooking and sampling wine, being active is critical!

What is your favorite Scripture?
My favorite scriptures are the 23rd Psalm and Philippians 4 through 7. I am looking forward to dwelling in the house of the Lord forever.

Psalm 23
1 The LORD is my shepherd, I lack nothing.
2 He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,
3 he refreshes my soul.
He guides me along the right paths
for his name's sake.
4 Even though I walk
through the darkest valley,
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.
5 You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
6 Surely your goodness and love will follow me
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the LORD
forever.
