Spotlight on Duane & Christina Edwards

| |

What is your role at EastPoint?
We both serve on the worship team- Duane plays the upright bass and Christina plays the piano.
Why do you serve?
God has blessed our lives in ways we cannot fathom. We serve out of thankful hearts. We also desire to become less focused on ourselves, and serving always helps us to sacrifice our convenience in an effort to build up the body of Christ.
Where do you and your family live?
We live in Biddeford.
Where are you originally from?
Duane grew up in Rockland, discovered by his parents in a beached lobster trap. Christina spent the first half of her childhood in Bridgton and the latter half in East Winthrop, not found by parents in a beached lobster trap.
What is your educational background?
Duane went to Rockland Schools and Christina was homeschooled. We both graduated from the University of Maine at Augusta in 2003 with Bachelor's Degrees in Jazz and Contemporary Music. (We met each other freshman year, while playing together in our first ensemble- and started dating the end of our Senior year)
What is your career background?
Duane is a self-employed musician- teaching private lessons & ensembles and performing full time. Christina teaches piano lessons, works part time as an assistant for a children's book author.
What are your hobbies?
Other than playing music, we love to read, play board games and visit with friends & family. We also enjoy finding creative ways to cook without gluten & dairy (or maybe we just do that because we have to). Christina likes to refinish vintage furniture, Duane likes giving her money to refinish vintage furniture. Every Monday night we microwave peeps.
What is your favorite Scripture?
Duane's favorite book is Ecclesiastes. But in an effort to keep things brief, here's another catchy little number we enjoy:
Psalm 85: 7-13 (KJ version)
Show us thy mercy, O Lord, and grant us thy salvation. I will hear what God the Lord will speak: for he will speak peace unto his people, and to his saints: but let them not turn again to folly. Surely his salvation is nigh them that fear him; that glory may dwell in our land. Mercy and truth are met together: righteousness and peace have kissed each other. Truth shall spring out of the earth: and righteousness shall look down from heaven. Yea, the Lord shall give that which is good: and our land shall yield her increase. Righteousness shall go before him: and shall set us in the way of his steps.
