Hello,

Do you remember bringing your new little son home from the hospital?  Do you recall how sweet were the first smiles of your tiny daughter?  A parent's immediate instinct is to love their child, unconditionally and beyond all reason. Enveloping that love is the fierce instinct to protect that helpless child from harm or pain of any kind.

Handing our first born little girl over to the pediatrician for a necessary DPT shot was unsettling to my husband and me.  After guarding her for months from the errant diaper pin, an overly warmed bottle, or hint of a chill during bath time, to deliver her to deliberate pain was almost unthinkable.

Parents do eventually grow wiser and less traumatized as our toddlers stand, then fall, then walk and fall again. We let go bit by bit because we must so that our children can grow to be independent and functioning individuals.

As life would have it, sometimes the harm or pain to our children is beyond measure. Then, in spite of all of our love and passion for this flesh of our flesh, we cannot save them or hold them on this earth.

On 9-11-2011 we see the faces of the thousands of Americans...parents, grandparents, children, brothers and sisters, who could not rescue their loved ones from unthinkable suffering and death...could not comfort them in their final moments on earth, could not tell their last heartfelt love.

Ten years ago all Americans and all human beings of compassion and reason mourned those whose lives were taken at the World Trade Center,  the Pentagon and in Shanksville, PA. We watched in horror and prayed in vain for more survivors and fewer lost. The hopeful posters and poignant pleas for any word of a missing one made us so want to help...but they were beyond our helping.

But now we can help...help the grieving families, help our country and help protect the children and grandchildren we love and would save at the cost of our own lives. On this 10th year of remembrance, don't look away.  Instead, remember those who died and offer words and acts of comfort to their loved ones. Anyone can leave messages of comfort in the name of one of those lost that day at http://www.912superseniors.org/2011/08/on-9-11-2011-will-you-offer-remembrance-and-comfort-3/

We don't want to see again the endless pictures of that deathscape of the World Trade Center, the scarred walls of the Pentagon and the eerily quiet field in Pennsylvania.  But it is important that we don't look away.

Our hearts break at pictures of people leaning out from the World Trade Center windows to escape the fire and sometimes jumping to their deaths rather than suffer the flames. It's important that we pay attention to their suffering. Don't look away.

Watch and listen and remember, because after 10 years we  are still threatened by the spectre of unspeakable evil and violence against the lives of Americans. Not only American soldiers battling in an organized force, but also our neighbors, our children and our grandchildren are considered targets by those who would destroy our way of life.

We dare not look away. The dedication and vigilance with which we protected and nurtured our young children are needed right now to carefully choose the leaders who will protect and defend America's freedoms and security.

Leaders whose actions have shown their love for America, their respect for its' freedoms, and their confidence in America's proven world leadership are those who will be vigilant and determined to protect her citizens.

Many beautiful and serene memorial sites have been dedicated to permanently remind citizens of the unprovoked attacks of September 11, 2001.

In all more than 3,000 souls were lost that day.

The Heroes Garden stands as an outdoor chapel, a place of honor, reflection and, especially, remembrance.

It is hoped that Heroes Garden will encourage future generations to never forget the cost of the terrorists attacks on a free America and to remember that freedom must be protected if it is to remain viable.

Gone But Not Forgotten
Tributes to Voices Not Heard by Fabrizio Bivona

This past Saturday I was fortunate to join Americans from five states on a 911 Tribute Cruise on the Hudson River around NYC. The event was planned by Americans for Liberty of Morristown, NJ.

One of the speakers was Fabrizio Bivona, a paramedic/firefighter who was called to the World Trade Center when the call went out for all available personnel on the morning of  9-11.

His experiences and the photos he took in the days that follow are difficult to comprehend, but should be viewed by every American as a look at the extent of hatred directed at our country so that we may be warned and prepared to defend ourselves.

His book, "Gone But Not Forgotten" is available at

Restoring Courage and GBTV

Glenn's show from 5 to 7 pm Mon-Fri starts 9-12-2011

Glenn Beck's event "Restoring Courage" streamed live from Israel was a brilliant demonstration of the courage of Israelis living surrounded by self proclaimed enemies.

Each speaker and each musical selection added to an understanding and respect for the accomplishments of a determined and courageous citizenry in that difficult and harsh environment.

Glenn's own description of the situation and the strength, of the stuggles and attacks on the people daring to reach out to each other and sometimes killed for that very goal was respectful and awe inspiring.

When Glenn said that we can teach the Israelis nothing about courage, but can learn from them, every viewer heartily agreed.

At "Restoring Courage" Glenn presented a challenge for each of us to make a

"Declaration of Rights and Responsibilities

As Edmund Burke said, "all that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing." We must DO something. Stand watch. Speak up. Become involved.

Thus, we the people do hereby declare not only our rights, but do now establish this bill of responsibilities.

1. Because I have the right to choose, I recognize that I am accountable to God and have the responsibility to keep the 10 commandments in my own life.

2. Because I have the right to worship as I choose, I have the responsibility to honor the right of others to worship as they see fit.

3. Because I have freedom of speech, I have the responsibility to defend the speech of others, even if I strongly disagree with what they're saying.

4. Because I have the right to pursue happiness, I have the responsibility to show humility and express gratitude for all the blessings I enjoy and the rights I've been given.

5. Because I have the right to honest and good government I will seek out honest and just representatives when possible. If I cannot find one then I accept the responsibility to take that place.

6. Because I have the God given right to liberty, I have the personal responsibility to have the courage to defend others to be secure in their persons, lives and property.

7. Because I have the right to equal justice, I will stand for those who are wrongly accused or unjustly blamed.

8. Because I have the right to knowledge, I will be accountable for myself and my children's education...to live our lives in such a way that insures the continuation of truth.

9. Because I have the right to pursue my

dreams and keep the fruits of my labor, I have the responsibility to feed, protect and shelter my family, the less fortunate, the fatherless, the old and infirm.

10. Because I have a right to the truth, I will not bear false witness nor will I stand idly by as others do.

Unconditionally, while maintaining my responsibility to compassionately yet fiercely stand against those things that decay the natural rights of all men. And for the support of this declaration, and with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence we mutually pledge to each other our lives, fortunes and sacred honor.

Senior Pamphleteers
Where, oh where, can you share?

As you prepare for your next doctor visit or therapy session or to visit a friend in a hospital, be sure to print out several copies of the healthcare pamphlet to take along.

Tell your doctor you are concerned over changes to healthcare and have become an advocate for doctors and patients to continue to be able to make decisions without increased government interference. Tell him you brought something for him to read.

The healthcare pamphlet which can be printed here and at www.912SuperSeniors.org  continues to provide important alerts about the effects of PPACA (Obamacare). We get emails and comments from Seniors about doctors who make extra copies of the pamphlet to put in their waiting rooms.  The pamphlet is proving to be a conversation starter in clubs and even at dinner with friends.

 Senior Pamphlet

Has the new healthcare law affected you?  Let us know by email using the  contact form on any website page if your doctor has requested a voluntary payment to help with paperwork or if he has stopped accepting new Medicare patients.  Some Seniors are finding it more difficult to get appointments with specialists and are forced to wait for many weeks to get help.

If your Congressman holds a Town Hall or is paying a visit to a Senior Center near you, be sure to go and listen to his remarks on healthcare.  Ask him how the 575 billion cut from Medicare will affect healthcare to Seniors in your community.  Ask him who will provide care when 17% of hospitals close.  And, the $64,000 question is will he promise to put himself and his children on the same healthcare plan he is implementing for the rest of us.

If it's not good enough for his family, it's not good enough for your family!

Watch the two minute video of Betsy McCaughey explaining that Seniors will again see cuts to medicare to pay for  other entitlements.

There is much extreme weather across the USA right now (all President Bush's fault, you know) and we can watch it blow by blow thanks to our everpresent media.

Here on Long Island, NY, we had a lady visitor named Irene.  She came in with a bang and went out with a whimper but caused much damage everywhere she went.

When we lost power for who knows how many hours we decided to drive to an electrified area of town for a hot dinner and then return home, chat for awhile and go to bed with visions of electricity dancing in our heads.

As the sunset light faded we lit four candles, put our fire extinguisher beside the candles and settled in for a visit.  The four of us had been together for two days preparing for the predicted storm damage so it was peaceful to know the worst was over and the power would, someday, be restored.

With a cool breeze coming through the sliding door, we were two hours into our visit and enjoying ourselves when a light in the kitchen came on and the refrigerator began humming.

We cheered and rejoiced that in less than 24 hours we were power-enabled.  Then we decided to turn off the kitchen light and continue actually talking with each other.

The next day I called my parents to update them on our hurricane happenings and mentioned the evening chat.  Mom's first reaction was that the candles were a fire hazard, but since we had the extinguisher, we were OK.

Dad's comment was, "So then you learned what life is all about."

I knew right away exactly what he meant.  When we would gather with his large family at Grandpa and Grandma's farmhouse, the conversation was always spirited and varied with only an occasional interruption to settle a baseball dispute among the young cousins.

That art of conversation including debate, humor and irony has faded in the onslaught of iphones, blackberries and handheld electronic games and kindles. We have become battery operated, isolated people  who can share a room for hours and never exchange that first thought or even greeting.

And so it is bittersweet to hear family members right now recalling their last words with a loved one killed on Sept. 11.  So many people remember and relive exactly what was said and when and how.

It may serve to remind all of us to put down the iphone, log off our computer and actually talk with the people we love. There is always a new show to watch or wii game to try, but regrets can be terrible things when important messages are left unsaid.

It is an honor to join with you in this endeavor!
