Happy Father's Day, Dad!
How many times did you wish that to your Father and present him with cards of heartfelt gratitude and gifts you hoped he would treasure or maybe would see as the perfect solution to an unmet need?
Do you remember the concentration it took as you copied the greeting the teacher wrote on the board for the text of your first card to your Dad?
If you missed a letter or two in spite of your best efforts, your Dad never mentioned it, but read the message carefully and seriously so you would know he considered each word to be important.
From those early school attempts through the maturing penmanship and art and even composition talents each Father's Day card reflected your newest skills. Taken together they would be an accurate diary of your own education and maturation.
And now that many of us have long been on the receiving end of those good wishes do you feel that you have become the all knowing, all powerful parent you looked up to and emulated?More likely, you have many questions still unanswered and challenges you have yet to conquer.
As parents and grandparents we work from the position of much experience and well tested abilities mixed in with the imperfections we see in ourselves. Yet we have seen quite enough of human nature to know good when we see it and evil just as surely. So we follow our hearts but also our heads in guiding and advising the children and grandchildren we love so much.
We so appreciate their cards and gifts and affection on Father's Day and any day. Those celebrations are chances to enjoy what my family calls "making memories".
Entwined with all the happy memories is the lasting influence we can still remember of parents who were kind, considerate and loving. When our parents treated us with respect we were better able to respect ourselves and others. When they set high standards, we strove to achieve and when they lived with respect for America's freedoms and love of her liberty, we grew in patriotism and American pride.
Each day America's children are surrounded with messages and examples counter to the values we know they will need to survive and flourish. Yet when they are with us they are surrounded with our messages and they are listening closely.
This Father's Day could be the perfect time to start a new family tradition...that of family stories. With the electronics powered off for a time, including the ever present TV noise, we can share the stories we still remember hearing from our parents.
Taken together with our own life's stories we lay out the tapestry of time and experience for those still so young.
In the process we model and so define what our family would judge as virtue, as value and as success.
We should never underestimate the need for guidance in young lives... and today more than ever. The choices, the variety, the lifestyles are a dizzying array and can sorely test the character of young decision makers. Our family stories of loving compassion, obstacles overcome and even suffering endured can reassure and guide when our children and grandchildren must stand on their own as did we and our parents before us.

Betsy McCaughey on Healthcare
Former NY Lieutenant Governor, Constitutional Scholar,Patient Advocate and the woman who started it all by READING THE BILLS
Everybody knows that if you don't pay to maintain and repair your car, you limit its life. The same is true with human beings. We need medical care to avoid becoming clunkers - disabled, worn out, parked in wheelchairs and nursing homes.
For nearly a half century, Medicare has enabled seniors to get that care. But the Obama administration is changing that by launching a new "efficiency" measure that will discourage hospitals from expending resources on older patients. The measure was announced this week.
Hospitals will be evaluated based on "spending per Medicare beneficiary." Hospitals that spend more than average on a patient with a particular diagnosis get whacked with demerits, starting July 1.
Financial penalties will follow in October 2012. Unfortunately, patients will feel the effects much sooner.
The Obama administration claims the new initiative will reward "efficiency, " but hospitals will earn points for spending less, regardless of what happens to the patient. That could mean rewarding skimpy care.
A new study in the May 25 issue of the Journal of the American Medical Association shows that in regions of the U.S. where primary care doctors are in plentiful supply and spending per Medicare beneficiary is higher than average, patients are more likely to survive their illness. Spending more is associated with lower mortality.
President Obama has said he could cut 30 percent from what Medicare spends on a patient without doing harm. But research suggests the dangers.

COLA Project on Food Inflation
Your reporting reflects reality
The May 31 survey shows 23 week inflation on items checked at 7.4%
http://www.912superseniors.org/cola-project/cola-project-results/
Compared to the shocking inflation of 18% just two weeks ago the latest compilation show 7.4% food inflation over 23 weeks ended May 31.
Do you feel any richer? Is the grocery money just piling up in your checking account?
With the decrease in gasoline prices as of May 31 and other grocery staples coming off their massive upswing we are still left with American Cheese up by 20%, ground beef up by 21% and milk up by 14% to list a few of the largest increases in staple foods.
The fact that gasoline prices dropped back to a 28% increase is a relief only when compared to the rapid increases threatening to push a gallon of gas to $5.00.
Some Seniors have told us they will be traveling this summer and unable to submit survey information for several weeks at a time. We are hoping that other Seniors will be able to continue entering the cost data so that we will have enough results to continue reporting food inflation.
The Seniors who are so reliable in submitting food surveys each week are doing a real service to us all. Thank you for your time and your determination to get adequate data for the analysis.
As the government tells us we are having a temporary spike in prices, we can have a factual response which will become even more important when it is time to choose the direction of our government in the 2012 elections.
We will continue collecting the data which we publish and also pass on to Glenn Beck through his producers.
Please come back to doing the survey if you have been away. Only as long as we have a significant number of completed surveys can we have meaningful inflation data. Help us at:

Obamacare:
Medicaid's Boom Is Medicare's Doom
By Jim Soviero

It's critical to stay informed and share information with others regarding what we're learning about President Obama's "Affordable Care Act." This kind of vigilance is going to require loads of people researching and spreading the word, because most media outlets aren't doing a lot of digging.
For instance, over 1,300 waivers from Obamacare have been granted to well over 3 million people. A plurality of those exempted have been union members, whose outfits just happened to be big contributors to Candidate Obama. In fairness, not all were blue collar workers or teachers. Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's district got 38 free passes from new regulations. Many went to very upscale restaurants, spas, and hotels. Harry Reid, the law's Senate champion, got his entire state of Nevada off the hook. Ah, how the press must long for the days of Speaker Newt Gingrich, and Republican Senate Leader, Trent Lott. It was so much easier to be a watchdog when the hypocrisy seemed to be coming from the right.
Maybe we're being too harsh on our reporters. It could well be journalism grads weren't properly schooled in reading, comprehending, and interpreting complex legislation. After all the bill was over 2,000 pages, and the regulations being spawned from that "outline" may swell the count to over 100,000 pages. Hey, the administration was giving them briefings, so why bother combing through all that mumbo jumbo. Besides, now, in the nick of time, they have a story they can sink their teeth into. Democrats claim Republicans are trying to destroy Medicare and kill seniors. No, serious study required here. It's a story that fits their template so run with it. Just ignore the fact that Paul Ryan's reform plan has no direct effect on anyone 55 years of age or older.
Another story that seems to be conveniently ignored/forgotten/overlooked is how the "Affordable Care Act" is going to impact Medicaid. Here are some frightening facts gleaned right from our own government agencies. A 2008 actuarial report from the Department of Health and Human Services projected the growth of Medicaid recipients. The figuring went like this. There were an average of 49.1 million enrolled in 2007. Based on a growth of 1.2 % the guesstimate was there would be 55.1 million folks in the program by 2017. Continuing to use the government's own formula, Medicaid would grow to about 56,430,000 people by 2019.
So, you might ask yourself, how is it that there have been all these rosy financial forecasts regarding the "Affordable Health Act" when it just doesn't seem to pass the common sense test? How can you save money while expanding coverage to tens of millions of people and exploding the growth of Medicaid? You simply make implausible assumptions that have to be taken at face value because you say they're true. Then you take 500 billion dollars from Medicare to help balance the books. But that's still not going to do it. Something really needs to be done about the cost of Medicare, and Obamacare does it. The Office of the Medicare Actuary has predicted by 2019 the program will be paying doctors less than Medicaid. Now it's starting to make a little sense, right? It's simple really. The unchecked appetite of one plan will cause it to feed off the other.

Following Glenn on GBTV
Glenn Beck leaving Fox News and expanding into GBTV
With only a few of the 5:00 Glenn Beck shows on Fox News ahead of us, have you decided how to stay connected with Glenn?
As the man who initiated the 912 project and put forth the 9 principles and 12 values we share, Glenn has been an inspiration to millions of us who felt that we were very much alone. He brought us out of our tirades at the TV and into the company of other Americans sharing the same concerns and frustrations.
We hear from Seniors that they will very much miss the 5:00 hour with Glenn and are grateful for all the information he has provided.
With the new streaming GBTV being rolled out and previewed now and with a start date for regular programming of 9-12-2011, we can plan to stay well connected to Glenn's information, opinions and observations.
Glenn has always urged Americans to come out of their isolation into a community of fellow Patriots and act to make a difference. Now we must act to stay connected to Glenn even if that requires some extra effort and $5.00 managed from our monthly budget.
I personally consider the Glenn Beck Show as equivalent to a challenging course in current political events. And it would be at the colege level because of the breadth and depth of content, the resources introduced and the research required of us, the learners.
Because too many Seniors are not internet connected it will be an important effort for us to remember "Each One Find One" from our earliest days of the 912 Super Seniors and help to get information out to others.
Those of us who are internet connected can follow GBTV and its wide variety of Glenn's own shows, news, specials, and more. Two subscriptions are offered at $4.99 and $9.99 per month and can be cancelled before any billing period.
For more details and if you have not yet watched Glenn explain the concept and workings of GBTV you can see the free video here:

http://www.glennbeck.com/ISRAEL
Of the many issues of concern in our country and the world right now, Glenn Beck has called attention to the threat to the safety and even the existence of our ally, Israel.
When President Obama made his unexpected statements to the Prime Minister about Israel's borders and then proceeded to comment that each country has a right to protect itself and to do so by itself, the message to all the world was clear. Allies and enemies of Israel and of the United States concluded that this President is no friend of our long time ally.
Many of you went to Glenn's 8-28 "Restoring Honor" event and have said it was an experience you will always remember. Now that Glenn is planning to go to Israel for an event "Restoring Courage" I know some Seniors who are already planning to make the trip because they feel strongly that they want to show their own support for Israel.
For those of us who cannot travel to Israel there will be events here to stand in solidarity with each other to support the independence and safety of Israel. Just as we value our own freedoms we will have the opportunity to support the freedoms of this close and important ally.
It is an honor to join with you in this endeavor!
