Greetings!

Parents and grandparents be on the alert. Tantrums abound in Lame Duck DC and much damage could be done.

Those very politicians voted overwhelmingly out of office and out of control insist that two years ago the citizens gave them a mandate....a mandate they define as vastly expanded government controls, increased dependency on the nanny state, wealth redistribution and putting America last. In a final grasp of Congressional control they scramble to grab all those toys they've always wanted before they are made to go home.

Hello!  Earth to Progressive/Liberal/Democrats.

We will speak, as to an out of control child, calmly and in short direct sentences. You did bad things. You did them on purpose. You were caught with both hands in the taxpayers' pockets. You are out.

There was no mandate to explode the deficit.

There was no mandate to socialize our healthcare.

There was no mandate to choose winners and losers in our markets.

There was no mandate to create slush funds of our money to be spent mostly before the 2012 election, aka stimulus.

The voters have sent you to time out.

We know that children learn from their role models and so these politicians learned three days ago, from their leader and role model, that it is OK to throw a tantrum. It is acceptable to negotiate an agreement with the "other team" and then, at the first non-adoring rhetoric from the press, throw the whole other team, who represent the majority of Americans, under the bus as hostage takers.

Meanwhile, voters decried more deficit spending and stood on street corners and marched on DC to say, "Stop spending money we do not have!"

Then they voted NO to the above agenda. Those voters have to settle for no massive personal tax increases in return for a reinstated estate tax and 60 billion more in deficit spending, instead of using unexpended stimulus funds, to provide more unemployment benefits.

What happened to one child halving the cupcake and the other choosing first? It is increasingly obvious that politicians, once elected, need constant supervision. The lure of power, money and obeisance is more compelling than was our teenager's craving for popularity. And ever more destructive to us all.

Project COLA Update
Analyzing the Data

COLA ProjectThe first two weeks of survey data have been analyzed and finalized. That is our basis for comparison. Now the third week input is being reviewed for our first comparative report. We spoke to one of Glenn Beck's producers this week about the great participation by the Super Seniors and the status of the survey. We told her of your emails about the reduced size of products where a few less ounces create a 10 to 15% price increase unnoticed by many shoppers.

Final changes to the grocery list and survey input were made last week. Please check your list to make sure it is the current one by clicking here. Some of you had frustrations entering data and all the links and forms have been fixed. Thank you for the emails alerting us and for your perseverance.

Again, please check the shelf prices and not the sales prices as great markdowns often disguise a gradual big increase. Also, be sure to price check the same brands each week.

If you cannot report each week, just come back to reporting when possible. The data will be more accurate with more points of input.

Thank you for making the time to help Glenn Beck with this food inflation survey.

Senior Chat

Senior ChatSeniors are starting to speak up on our site's Senior Chat page. You will find food storage topics which are important as we think about preparing ourselves for food inflation as well as for possible food supply disruption from floods, hurricanes, etc. KatNip continues to post helpful information which is targeted to us.

Also, Pete from Florida has posted to Senior Chat the details of a free program we could all use.  It saves our usernames and passwords and could replace those errant bits of paper that disappear with a password we created only a few weeks ago and now is lost to memory.

You can view the topics and comments without registering but please register to add your comments and post topics of value to you so others can benefit.

Asclepius Shrugged
By Bruce Walker

Asclepius is the Greek god of medicine.  Even in the mythology of the Greeks, healing was a business fraught with danger for the practitioner. Zeus, legend goes, was angered because Asclepius did his job too well and punished him accordingly.  In some cultures -- China being a good example -- the physician treating a patient was liable if the patient died, no matter what the reason.  American tort lawyers seem to believe that any imperfect medical procedure must be malpractice, and juries seem to nod in agreement.

The Wall Street Journal in April reported that our nation will already be facing a shortage of 150,000 physicians in fifteen years.  The Heritage Foundation reports that the overwhelming majority of physicians had a negative impression of ObamaCare, the bill rammed down the throats of an angry American public.  A whopping 86% of doctors thought that the bill did not give adequate consideration to the perspective of physicians.  The Physicians Foundation presents even more shocking news: 40% of doctors plan to stop providing patient care within three years, 87% say that they will stop or limit new Medicare patients, and 93% say that they will do the same with Medicaid patients.

As we Greedy Geezers, per the New Yorker magazine, are enjoying this holiday season, we are generous beyond the comprehension of a jaded New Yorker author.  Please email us your stories of compassion and giving so we can share them in our December newsletters.

As Glenn Beck plans to show us the heart of Christmas in Wilmington, Ohio, on December 15, we will each see goodness and generosity in our own communities.

Americans are giving to all the world and at Christmas and Hannukah let us celebrate our goodness to each other.

It is an honor to join with you in this endeavor,
