Did you see Glenn Beck's "Broke" in a theater last night? If you think you know him well from his radio and daily TV show, you will see Glenn in a very different setting, with a live audience, doing what we know he does so well.
In the two hour show, to be replayed on Dec. 8, at theaters all around the USA, Glenn explains some tough realities of where we are now and the direction we are taking, mixed with good humor and a lot of hope.
Before going to see "Broke" spend some time researching the forgotten founding father, George Whitfield. He was of modest birth and had his youthful scrapes, but came to have a spiritual awakening which led him to minister to the poor and weak and eventually to preach to the largest crowds ever assembled in England. Whitfield brought his passionate belief in the worth of each man and his God given rights to the American colonists.
Here in America Whitfield spoke to massive outdoor audiences because there were no buildings large enough for the crowds of listeners. He made seven speaking tours of the colonies from Maine to Georgia and is credited with preparing the American spirit to triumph in the struggles of the revolution. Many colonists thought of him as the father of the revolution.
After you read of Whitfield's passion for truth and for essential freedoms then go to see "Broke". I personally felt that we have our own George Whitfield disguised as Glenn Beck. When I posed this to Glenn on the radio today., he was modest....but how many of you agree?
Go and watch him in "Broke" and email us with your thoughts.
The 912 Super Seniors have had an amazing week. During the first period of the COLA Project, which is tracking food inflation, 650 surveys were returned to our site. This is what Glenn Beck hoped would happen when he asked us if Seniors would help him monitor food prices.
At the same time AsAMom.org is collecting prices through their survey. Each survey is different and together will give a real time picture of food inflation. When we have the first comparison information, we will be posting it. Your time and efforts are greatly appreciated and will result in increased awareness of what Americans are facing as they feed their families.
After seeing your responses, we have revised some aspects of the survey so please print out a new grocery list before you check prices again.
Here are answers to your questions about the survey:
- To print a new grocery list you can go to the COLA page and register your name and email address again. In a few seconds the grocery list will pop up with a printable link;
- The new registration will not duplicate you in our records.
- Enter the prices only, with no text at all. Example: 2.98
- If you cannot find an item, just leave it blank.
- You DO NOT have to buy these items. Just track the shelf prices.
- Plase check the same items each week...same brand and size. If you make changes because of the revised grocery list we will be making adjustments as we analyze the data. The current grocery list should be the final version.
We are hoping you can continue to make time for the survey even through the busy holidays. Know that we volunteers appreciate every single survey as it comes in.
