Dear ,
You recently visited the 912 Super Seniors web site and registered for our newsletter. So here it is - come on in! The 912 Super Seniors volunteers are so glad you came. We need you and we value this opportunity to communicate with you.
The 912 Super Seniors welcome everyone who shares the values, principles and goals that are front and center on the 912 Super Seniors website. For Seniors and Seniors-in-Waiting, our group is a fusion of our strengths, determination and influence. We highly value the membership of our older Seniors who too often have no strong, united voice.
Seniors of all ages are fired up right now. And with good reason. There is a target on our assets, retirement savings, healthcare and our very security. When I stated this on the Glenn Beck show on October 11, 2010, thousands of you agreed. You responded by visiting the 912 Super Seniors website, signing up for this newsletter and sending in hundreds of emails. The thoughts and questions we receive will help drive the content of this newsletter, so keep them coming!
A big "thank you" to Glenn Beck for asking me to speak about the 912 Super Seniors on his show.Glenn has been calling attention to the amazing resource which is our Seniors. He has been urging Seniors to apply their hard-earned knowledge and experience to address our country's challenges.
The battles we Seniors wage to preserve healthcare, protect private property and insure our rights and freedoms will benefit all Americans of all ages. As we go forward and form 912 Super Seniors groups, we join our strengths and our determination to guide the country we love.
Right now our web site is being redesigned to allow more functions to support you who are founding groups and to enable more connection among 912 Super Seniors. Please check the site often at www.912SuperSeniors.org
Now let us begin. There is so much to be done. We know how difficult the challenges, but we also know what is at risk.
Thank you for getting involved!

Introducing the 912 Super Seniors Newsletter
Kicking off the 912 Super Seniors concept is a challenge, but one that we welcome. This newsletter was created to help support our goals to:
- Form 912 Super Seniors groups across the country
- Improve the education of America's children
Forming 912 Super Seniors Groups
This newsletter was designed to keep us connected geographically. We will match those who wish to found a group with those looking to join a group. This will be done with complete protection of individual contact privacy.
Exciting things are already happening. Many of you have written to the 912 Super Seniors to say, "I want to start a group!" We volunteers are inspired by your responses. You are springing into action to make a difference right now...a difference for yourselves, your children and your grandchildren and for the country you love.
Seniors in many states are already contacting others for a conversation about common concerns. From these unstructured and open discussions will come the beginnings of the new group. The key word is "unstructured". If you agree with the 9 Principles and 12 Values and support the goals to Educate, Empower and Act stated on the site's home page, those will be your guides.
How you approach the goals of the 912 Super Seniors is up to each group. As we reach out across America, we understand that concerns, movements and policies may differ from one location to the next. We simply advise you to take that first step. Together we will unite the 912 Super Seniors in America into a powerful voice for Seniors. Regardless of where you live or how nervous you may feel about the task before you, we admire your determination to begin. We, too, are nervous - but also excited!
To support this growth of new groups, each newsletter will address some basic steps in the process of founding a 912 Super Seniors group. Your feedback in emails about your challenges and successes will help drive our newsletters. Please know that your experiences and emails are vital to us and to the cohesiveness of this group. No question is too small. Together we will begin at the beginning. Together we will move forward from there.
Improving the Education of America's Children
The second major goal of the newsletter is to support what is a new challenge for most of us, that of providing educational excellence for our grandchildren.
As parents and grandparents we have seen that children are babies one day, teenagers the next and voting adults - all in the blink of an eye. We have seen that the window of opportunity to educate young children and inspire them with principles, values and compassion is all too brief.
Already we are contributing time to care for grandchildren, and to volunteer for religious organizations, communities, charities and civic groups. On the October 11 show Glenn Beck challenged us to go one step further; that is to engage in the education of our grandchildren through homeschooling.
Some of you responded in your emails in support of Glenn's comments about homeschooling children and grandchildren. Others suggested supplemental tutoring approaches for teaching American history, principles and heritage. Several Seniors have volunteered to share their considerable knowledge and experience on educational initiatives.
One of our founding members and a lifelong educator, Mary Jo Schroeder, has a driving interest in the education of our children and will coordinate the organization of a project of education initiatives for the 912 Super Seniors.

Form a Group
Forming a New 912 Super Seniors Group
The web site is a good starting point for planning to found a group. Even though it is being reconstructed to add more functions, the information on the original site will be included on the new one. Look for information to help in founding a group here:
- "Educate, Empower and Act" These goals detailed on the home page explain in general what the 912 Super Seniors seeks to accomplish. Then, it is up to each individual group to educate, empower and act around the concerns specific to that group.
- The 9 Principles and 12 Values are listed or linked on the home page. As put forth by Glenn Beck in the original 912 Project, these guide the 912 Super Seniors to put principles before parties.
- "Form a Group" page has some guidance on proceeding from a very casual gathering of a few concerned Seniors to an organized meeting.
- "Join Us'' page has leads on where to find other Seniors We are pretty much everywhere as there are 70 million Americans over age 55 while 36 million of those are over age 65. Starting a discussion with anyone is easy these days when one need only comment on the latest Healthcare revelation!
- "Sample Meeting Agenda" is a starting point until your unique agenda and group goals develop. If we plan an appropriate beginning and how the meeting will end, the middle becomes quite manageable. Actually, a group of Seniors is likely to have so much experience, many questions, and so much information that the leader will only need to channel the discussions to identify group-defined issues and goals.
As we read your emailed questions and experiences about founding your group we will have as more start up help for you as well as shared success stories. A first step is a success and a final step a major victory.

Mary Jo Schroeder
Director of Education Initiatives
I have been asked by my friend, Barbara Samuells, to be the Director of Education Initiatives for the amazing and wonderful 912 Super Seniors.
Why me? I have a love for education. I have two children of my own and they have made me a grandmother nine times over. I also taught elementary school for 39 years with the last 32 years being spent in first grade, the true love of my life when it comes to education.
I graduated with a B.S. in Education from Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio; and I received my M.S. in Educational Leadership from Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio
I am, to say the least, tremendously excited about the prospect of supporting anyone who shares the goal of ensuring that our children and grandchildren receive the best education possible in these days of questionable public education.
The 912 Super Seniors Education Initiatives are intended to support you who are dissatisfied with the way your children and grandchildren are being taught. You are telling us that you are concerned because the American school system is failing them. You want to ensure that children are taught the basics of a strong fundamental education along with guiding principles and the values which have enriched and directed your own life.
In our schools today, the government decrees that each child must spend a certain number of hours per day in the classroom, and yet they also decree that besides teaching basic skills, schools must add to the curriculum: environmental education, sex education, anti-bullying education, diversity education, etc. No wonder we can no longer compete with educational systems throughout the world! Our classroom hours are being overloaded with some lessons better taught in the home. And what is the end result? Well, that's what we are going to attempt to remedy!

In My Opinion
Healthcare Decreases
Millions of Americans who objected to the Healthcare law did so because they knew a lie when they heard one. A huge bill which most politicians had not read let alone openly debated was touted as covering forty million more Americans, cutting over 500 billion from Medicare and miraculously having no adverse effects on our healthcare.
The annual report on the future health of Medicare has been released and proves those skeptical Americans were so right. Headlines everywhere should highlight the courageous actions by the Medicare chief actuary, Richard Foster. Required to analyze and report on the healthcare bill in the exact fairy tale form passed by our politicians, Mr. Foster added to the annual Medicare report a second and damning analysis based on reality.
With 15 years of experience in Medicare analysis, Mr. Foster concludes that the assumptions on which the healthcare law is based "do not represent a reasonable expectation for actual program operations in either the short range . . . or the long range."
Mr. Foster's criticisms are shared by Stanford G. Ross and David M. Parker who have served as public trustees for Medicare. They stated in the NY Times ("Mislead on Medicare", Aug 14) that the overly optimistic body of the report will do real harm by producing an incorrect picture of the condition of the Medicare program and also will seriously confuse the issues involved.
We hear Douglas Elmendorf, the Director of the Congressional Budget Office, say that this healthcare reform is likely to result in people receiving less healthcare than they may need or want. Some Seniors are already reporting procedures no longer covered, doctors accepting no more Medicare patients and upfront cash payments requested for continued physician coverage.
We Seniors are on notice that our decreased home values, retirement investments and investment income are not the only facets of our lives being assailed. We know that the new healthcare law debacle is a threat to the good healthcare we anticipate as a result of our years of working and saving and paying our taxes.
