| | | Alive to Change Open House TUES 8th NOV 12-3pm
| | I've finally summoned up the courage to hold my very first Alive to Change Open House. I'd love your support.
As well as a lovely buffet lunch and a warm welcome, you'll get the chance to connect with other Mums living abroad and to sneak a peek into Alive to Change's nerve centre - otherwise known as my home office!
There'll be lots to look at, lots to think about and lots to take away.
There'll be a prize draw, with the opportunity to win an Occitane gift box, as well as other goodies.
I'd love to welcome as many Mums as possible, so if you know other Mums Abroad who might be interested in coming along, please forward this invitation.
Please RSVP for catering purposes (don't want to find myself with a huge pile of left over vol-au-vents!). When you RSVP, I'll send the address and directions.
THANKS - and I hope to see you there,
Kirstin

A Special Roots and Wings
October 2011
|
Hello again!
So, here's the evidence. I did get into the sea as planned this summer! And got more than I bargained for. On this rough occasion, I fought against the waves for a good half hour in the freezing cold, and in the end had to admit defeat. Can't beat the waves. But you can have fun trying!
It seems like an inordinately long time since I last sent out Roots and Wings in early July, and much has happened since then in my household, and, I'm sure, in yours. Of course, we don't expect things to stand still for very long, but wouldn't it be great if they did for a while? We could catch up with ourselves (and, perhaps find those mysteriously missing bits of paper), we could get everything in place to move forward, and, off we could go, all organised and ready! However, often we have everything happening at the same time. We are keeping things consistent at one level, we are looking for personal development and fulfilment, and we are constantly trying to create an environment where both we and our families can flourish. We crave routine, yet desire steps forward. And our constant challenge is to juggle the two. So sometimes you have to create a routine of change. Just like the trees do each season - change colour, strip off, hang around naked in the cold for a while (no, I'm not suggesting you do this, but hopefully you get my drift). I use the Autumn to bring about some changes for myself. A new, simpler routine is settling in. And I am challenging myself to do something new and a little scary. Hence the announcement to your left - my first Open House! I also wanted to consolidate some of my best work so far into something that is both new and exciting but which can become part of my "routine" offer, like my other programmes. And below, I introduce you to Invincibility for Mums Abroad, a new programme I'm launching. Like most, I enjoy change that knows I'm firmly in charge, unlike the waves on beaches in northern Scotland. And I've learnt to realise when I'm not, and learn how to handle or respond to it (hang onto your body board for dear life, and jump onto the wave at the right moment!). So I invite you to take charge of the changes in your life. Come along to my Open House and find out how many ways you can do this. Please help me this month by passing this on to any Mums you know who have just arrived here, or who have been here a while but who might enjoy reading this - or who might find it helpful. Have a fantastic October, Kirstin www.alivetochange.com |

Invincibility for Mums Abroad Imagine feeling invincible. Go on, just find a moment right now to imagine what invincible might feel like for you.
I first discovered feeling invincible exactly 5 years ago now. I had been in France 9 months, and was whisked into hospital suddenly for an emergency operation. The aftercare was painful and unpleasant. And yet, I found myself feeling strangely strong, in a kind of "if I can get through THIS, I can get through anything" kind of way. Shortly after that, I realised I had the energy and confidence to start to get involved more widely in the community, and to set up my own business, and here I am today!
Invincibility is a personal thing. It will mean something different and unique to you, depending on your experience. You don't need to go through pain to feel invincible - but overcoming challenge usually helps! You don't have to have had a major success - although feeling good about something you've contributed to makes a difference. And you don't have to be something you're not. You feeling good about being you is the most invincible thing out there!
I've led two workshops recently on Invincibility, and it is interesting to see the different responses - Patience, Energy, Resilience, Persistence, Confidence, Imagination, Creativity, Preparation. And much much more.
If we feel invincible, however we define it, we feel capable of anything. Of bouncing back. Of keeping going. Of getting started. Of knowing when to stop. Of knowing who to rely on. And who to support. Invincibility is not just one thing, it is a whole package of defining feelings, unique to an individual.
We can always change how invincible we feel. Try this experiment.
Think back to just one occasion in your life when you felt on top of the world. Remember it in great detail. Give it colour, and sound, and smell, and taste, and, well, whatever other details you want to add in. Really remember this feeling as if it was happening right now. That is what invincible feels like.
Now quickly, before the self-belief thiefs dive in, imagine how you would be living your life if you could felt this kind of invincibility at some point each and every day.
Next step - now think about one thing that you could do right now that would move you closer towards this incinvible feeling. Just one thing that you could do. Write it down. Or just do it!
If you want to feel more invincible in your life, in your own way, perhaps it's time to start flexing those confidence muscles, and limber up for the Invincibility for Mums Abroad Programme. I'll be gentle - but will certainly get you feeling more like the invincible you again!
I have up to 6 spaces available - it will be a small and positive group. You could be one of us. Please check out my website to find out more (Invincibility Programme) and contact me if you're interested.
Please pass this on to anyone you know who you think could use this kind of programme and support.
