Amazing Race for Health - Saturday July 24th
| The Bridges
Community Health Centre's Youth Health Promotion team, in partnership with Uberyouth and the Port Colborne
Mayor's Youth Advisory Council, is happy to host Rock in the Park featuring the Amazing Race
for Health on
Saturday, July 24th at Port Colborne's HH Knoll Park. This multi-purpose event is part of the Bridges CHC Niagara Prosperity
Initiatives Youth
Health Promotion Project, funded by Niagara Region. In
addition to a big line up of great local bands playing from noon - 9pm, surveys will be conducted all day to gather the "youth voice" on
important youth health issues and how we can make the community healthier. A 3km, interactive "Amazing Race
for Health" will be held, featuring several health check points along the route to
provide youth with health information on alcohol/drugs/tobacco, mental health,
health care services, nutrition, active transportation, and more. Event updates will be posted on the Event's Facebook page regularly. The organizing committee is seeking donations of any kind for the event - healthy snacks (granola bars,
fresh fruit, yogurt, cheese strings, etc.) and draw prizes for the winning
teams and for those who complete the youth voice surveys. Please contact Lori Kleinsmith for volunteer opportunities or ways to get involved. |

Legends on the Niagara Golf Tip
| | Chip to a target
Some people say "I can't
practice at home, I have no where to swing" but that's no excuse. If you have
ten feet of floor space, a small towel and an imagination you can get your
short game into great shape.
Try chipping 50 balls onto the towel from 10 feet
with a 7 iron and count how many times you hit it. Now change clubs to a wedge
and repeat the drill, change to an 8 iron and repeat and so on...
With so much of
your score depending on this type of shot you should practice it three nights
per week. When you practice this drill outside you will see how far each club
makes the ball roll on the putting surface.
Now you should be able to nestle
every chip shot close to the pin every time, or sink it!
Remember, be creative in your
approach to practice. It's the only way to get results, and your opponents'
attention!!
