Iron Man  
Join us tonight for another Movie in the Park.  Friday's movie will be Iron Man 2. All movies are free and begin at dusk. Lawn chairs, blankets and picnics are all welcome. We will have kid's activities and a bouncy house before the movie, so come early and enjoy some park time with your family.  Click here to see the entire schedule.  Thanks to Walmart and Sam's Club for sponsoring our Movies in the Park.  Their community participation enables us to provide quality, cost-free family entertainment. 
  
Community Coffee Club Cancelled.  The regularly scheduled community coffee club for Saturday has been cancelled for July.

 

Music in the Park.  Music in the park continues this Tuesday with Hold On.  All bands start at 7:00 p.m.
  

 

Planning and Zoning.  The next Planning and Zoning meeting will be on Wednesday, July 27th at 4:30 p.m.  An agenda will be posted next week on the city's website.

Neighborhood Watch Quarterly Meeting: The Windsor Heights Neighborhood Watch will be holding its Quarterly Meeting On Saturday, July 16, 2011 form 10:30am to 12:00pm at the 3E building north of the freeway at 953 73rd Street meeting held in the Large Conference room. 

 

All residents of Windsor Heights are more than welcome to attend. Children are welcome at meetings when accompanied by a parent or adult. National Night Out

In addition to the Music in the Park at 7:00 p.m. on August 2, the Windsor Heights Police Association will host the National Night Out against crime and violence at Colby Park from 6-8 p.m., with outstanding activities including:

·     Meet-and-greet of the Windsor Heights Police force

·        National Guard Blackhawk helicopter landing/display (weather permitting) being flown by guard member and Windsor Heights Firefighter Jason Cutsforth

·     Ice cream social (while supplies last)

·     Display of police vehicles, bike patrol, speed trailer

·     Temporary police tattoos, activities and games for children including a bounce house

·     Balloons, stickers, police cards, coloring books, other free giveaways

·     Windsor Heights Neighborhood Watch tent

·     Home security representatives, family/drug awareness resources

National Night Out is designed to:  1) Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness;  2) Generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime programs such as the Neighborhood Watch;  3) Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and  4) Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back. Sponsored by the Windsor Heights Police Association, WH Chamber of Commerce, Hy-Vee, Bankers Trust, and Windsor Heights Neighborhood Watch.

 

Care Package for Windsor Heights Officer Serving in Afghanistan:  Windsor Heights Police Officer, Hector Arias is currently serving in the Iowa Air National Guard. He is stationed in Kandahar, Afghanistan and this is his seventh deployment.   We will be collecting items at National Night Out, August 2nd and then sending them to Hector and his unit.   Please click here for more information and a list of items being collected.
