National Night Out
In addition to the Music in the Park at 7:00 p.m. on August 2, the Windsor Heights Police Association will host the National Night Out against crime and violence at Colby Park from 6-8 p.m., with outstanding activities including:
· Meet-and-greet of the Windsor Heights Police force
· National Guard Blackhawk helicopter landing/display (weather permitting) being flown by guard member and Windsor Heights Firefighter Jason Cutsforth
· Ice cream social (while supplies last)
· Display of police vehicles, bike patrol, speed trailer
· Temporary police tattoos, activities and games for children including a bounce house
· Balloons, stickers, police cards, coloring books, other free giveaways
· Windsor Heights Neighborhood Watch tent
· Home security representatives, family/drug awareness resources
National Night Out is designed to: 1) Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; 2) Generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime programs such as the Neighborhood Watch; 3) Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and 4) Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
