The City of Windsor Heights has contracted Visu-Sewer to perform the sanitary sewer routine cleaning starting in mid-February through mid March. Visu-Sewer uses a high pressure jet machine to clean the main sewer lines. The cleaning process can cause pressure changes in the sewer attached to your home. This should not affect most homes but in some homes that have inadequate or partially blocked drain vents, water in the traps and drains may be sucked out leaving a dry trap. It could also force the water out of the drains splashing the area around the drain. To avoid excessive splatter, close toilet lids and cover drains with a bucket or mat. After the crew has left your neighborhood, run a gallon or so of water into each drain to fill your traps (including floor drains) with water to keep any sewer odor out of your home. Budget Information Meeting
March is almost here again, which means the City of Windsor Heights will soon review and approve a city budget for the next fiscal year. The city budget gets approved every year in March and is effective the following July 1. The budget process also includes approving the city's capital improvement plan, which dictates what major projects, like water line replacement, road resurfacing, etc, that the city will complete the next several fiscal years. The budget will be presented publicly on February 21st at the Council meeting. Additionally, on February 26th at 11 a.m. in the Council Chambers, the city will have a public information meeting where the City Administrator and Chief Financial Officer will walk through the budget with citizens and answer questions. There will also be a formal public hearing tentatively scheduled for March 7th at 6:00 p.m. in Council Chambers. The Council will meet during a study session on Wednesday, February 23rd at 5:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers for budget discussion. The agenda will be posted early next week on the city's website. |
