Tristan
Tristan survived 4 years in a puppy mill and is now learning to live life on the outside.  He is a sweet, friendly guy who loves to play with his foster siblings and cuddle with his foster dad.  If you are looking for a sweet companion to add to your family, be sure to check out Tristan!
CSTR FL
Holly is a beautiful Shih Tzu girl in the CSTR FL program who is also looking for a forever home of her own.  Holly is a sweet, affectionate girl who loves attention.  She'd prefer to be the only dog in the home and takes her job as defender of her home very seriously!  She is housetrained and walks very well on a leash. If you are in the Tallahassee area and looking for a canine companion, be sure to check Holly out!

President's Message
2012 continues to truck along, as we were excited to see several of our dogs find their forever homes although it was another slow month for intake.
Eric - after
First, we are happy to report that Eric, continues to heal.  He made the trip to Tallahassee and is enjoying playing with his new foster siblings.  His right leg has healed beautifully, but his left leg seems to be taking more time so he's not quite ready to go to a forever home yet.  We are confident, though, that he will continue to heal and be ready soon!  Agan, thank you so much to everyone who donated to make his surgeries possible!

The CSTR Tallahassee program was contacted about in March about an adorable little 9 month old Shih Tzu puppy we named Shelly who desperately ne

eded to get into rescue.  Shelly came to CSTR horribly matted and had obviously never been groomed, and she was covered in fleas and ticks.  After a bath, haircut and flea preventative, she was feeling much better and settled into her foster home.. from which she is not going to leave.  Shelly - now renamed Alexis - was adopted by her foster mom.

We truly thank all of you who continue to donate to our vet fund and appreciate so very much your dedication and commitment to CSTR and our dogs.

We continue to post ChipIns and fundraisers on the CSTR Facebook as well as the website as we try to raise the funds we need to care for the dogs in our program.  If you can help us, please visit the ChipIns page to donate with your credit card or PayPal, or you can also
visit the CSTR website for more information on other ways you can donate.

As I have said in each of the previous newsletters, we are, unfortunately, unable to use the Pepsi Refresh grant money for anything other than the construction and completion of the retirement home (see below for an update), and so as always, we desperately need donations toward the care of the dogs in our program.  Again, to donate for specific dogs who are needing care, please visit the "ChipIns Page" of the CSTR website or the CSTR Refuge page if you'd like to donate for their care.  Or, if you prefer to make a general donation - even $10 or $20 - visit the CSTR website for donation information.  No donation is too small and all money goes directly to the care of the dogs in the CSTR program.

To keep up on what's happening throughout the month with CSTR and our dogs, be sure to "like" our Facebook fan page.

Remember, as always, the dogs need us and so we need you.

Retirement Home Update
We are excited to report another Polo's Refuge (Senior Dog Retirement Home) update!  Another major step in the home becoming a reality was taken as construction of the actual building began.  We went from three piles of materials to an actual structure!  The 10x16' building has 8' side walls, insulated floor and a loft for storage.  It has two windows, a front porch and ramp for easier access by our senior dogs, as well as two functioning windows and a huge front door.

Over the next few months as we receive the second half of the grant money, we will continue to bring the retirement home to life!  There is still so much to do as we add electricity to the building, insulation in walls and roof, ceiling fans, a heating/air conditioning unit, tile flooring and more.

For those of you who would like to have a part in the home, we still need slipcovers in size Small for the Kuranda beds.  You can order them by visiting the Kuranda website.  Everyone who donates a bed will have their name engraved on a plaque that will hang on the wall in the home.  When you order them, please have them shipped to -
