TEA PARTY LEADER REACTS TO SCOTUS OBAMACARE RULING
Philadelphia (June 28, 2012) - The Independence Hall Tea Party Association, one of the nation's leading Tea Party organizations, held a press conference, today, to respond to the U.S. Supreme Court ruling 5-4 decision in favor of ObamaCare.
"Since its passage, ObamaCare has gone from serious to critical condition," said Teri Adams, President of the Association. "The Supreme Court's decision to uphold the Act is disturbing, but the Court is not the only cure for remedying the ills of ObamaCare.Our members will not rest until ObamaCare is repealed, which we are confident will occur under the Presidency of Mitt Romney."
Our Association has long stressed that ObamaCare's countless new regulatory requirements and regulatory bodies would balloon the Federal deficit while doing absolutely nothing to drive down medical costs for the average American or to put patients in control of their healthcare decisions."
"This November we will hold accountable, at the ballot box, those politicians responsible for ignoring the majority of Americans who opposed ObamaCare andrammed ObamaCare down our collective throats," said Ms. Adams. "And come January 2013, we will work with our representatives in Washington to repeal what is left of the law following the high court's ruling.
"As the first Tea Party in the nation to officially endorse Mitt Romney for President, we were encouraged by his pledge to members at our recent Tax Day Tea Party Summit in Philadelphia that fixing the problems created by ObamaCare is 'first'on his 'list' of Presidential priorities.
"Governor Romney understands that 'common sense' reform of healthcare is needed, but that such reforms must not undermine the quality and ubiquity of the American healthcare system, which is the finest and most advanced in the world."
The Association has been an outspoken critic of ObamaCare since the bill's inception.
"From the very beginning, we have fought against ObamaCare--organizing a protest during the infamous 2009 Spector/Sebelius Town Hall at the National Constitution Center; sending busloads of Tea Partiers to Harrisburg and DC
to lobby against the bill; supporting state opt-out of ObamaCare legislation;
establishing a Political Action Committee to help elect new members of Congress; and, most recently, holding a press conference at this very site, (Independence Mall) on the 2nd anniversary of Congress' tragic vote enacting
this monstrous piece of legislation, to recommit ourselves to stopping this law.
