Tea Party Group Praises Governor Corbett for Signing Voter ID Bill;
Pushes for Similar Legislation in New Jersey
Philadelphia (March 15, 2012) -- The Independence Hall Tea Party Association, today, praised Governor Tom Corbett for immediately signing
the Voter ID Bill last evening, after the House voted along party lines to send HB 934 to his desk.
"The Association is grateful to Gov. Corbett for advancing the cause of voter integrity in Pennsylvania," said Association President, Teri Adams.
"We also deeply appreciate the role of Representatives Daryl Metcalfe, Steven Barrar, Curt Schroder; and Senators Chuck McIhenny and Dave Argall in moving Voter ID through the PA Assembly.
"Voter fraud, which HB 934 seeks to remedy, is a big problem in our state--especially in urban areas like Pittsburgh and Philadelphia.
"We can no longer tolerate imposters voting for dead people or fraudulent votes being cast by individuals claiming to live in non-existent residences," said Ms. Adams.
"John Fund, formally of the Wall Street Journal, wrote a book extensively detailing voter fraud in the city of Philadelphia. The problem has gone unaddressed for decades.
"In December, 2010, Association members met with Rep. Barrar to rally
support for Voter ID before the bill had been formally introduced.
"In March, the Association provided testimony in favor of HB 934 to a House Panel on Voter ID chaired by Rep. Metcalfe," said Ms. Adams.

"In addition, Association members spoke out on behalf of the bill to reporters and local talk show hosts, including WPHT's Dom Giordano.
"We also acknowledge the efforts of other PA Tea Party, Patriot, and
conservative groups who have wholeheartedly supported the measure.
"Last summer, at the urging of the Association, New Jersey Senator Christopher Connors, along with Assemblyman Brian Rumpf and Assemblywoman DiAnne Gove, introduced a Voter ID Bill for the Garden State. New Jersey is our next target," Adams said.
