 Tea Party PAC Questions Shapiro TV Ad;

Notes that Shapiro Also Courted Tea Party

Cheltenham, PA (November 4, 2011) --  The Independence Hall Tea Party PAC issued the following statement, today, regarding Montgomery County Democrat Party Commissioner candidate Josh Shapiro's TV commercial mocking the Tea Party movement and deriding  one of his opponents as "the only candidate who met with the Tea Party" while he himself had attended a Tea Party event last year.

"Josh Shapiro, who has publicly courted the Tea Party himself, is attacking one of his campaign opponents in a TV ad, ridiculing her as 'the only candidate to meet with the tea party' and adding that 'she and the Tea Party shared values,'" said Montgomery County resident and PAC president, Don Adams.

"The Independence Hall Tea Party would like to ask Shapiro specifically which Tea Party values he objects to.

"Is it opposition to higher taxes?  Absolutely not.

"If so, Shapiro's objection would be understandable since, as State Representative,
 he has supported raising our state taxes by over a billion dollars.

"Is it opposition to higher spending?  No way.

"Shapiro has voted to increase State spending by 21%.

"Is it honesty?  You be the judge.

"Contrary to public statements that his opponent was 'the only candidate to meet with the tea party' -- Shapiro, himself, met with a local Tea Party group in Glenside on October 14, 2010.

"Josh Shapiro's attacks on the Tea Party movement are just an intellectually baseless and crass attempt to divert attention away from his own incompetent policies and lack of integrity.

"More taxes, more spending, more government; less income, less freedom and
fewer jobs--that is Josh Shapiro's platform for Montgomery County and Pennsylvania."

The Independence Hall Tea Party PAC was formed in February, 2010 to assist federal candidates in the tri-state region (PA, NJ, DE) who share the organization's commitment to limited government, fiscal responsibility, and lower taxes.

In the 2010 Congressional Primaries, PAC endorsed candidates won 11 of 13 contested races.  Eight of those candidates are now serving in the 112th Congress.

In that same year, the PAC contributed more money to federal candidates than any other regional, state, or local Tea Party PAC.  Only Tea Party Express gave more.
