Updated Resource: MA Payment Guide for Out of Network Payments

 

CMSRural Providers often need a guide for understanding reimbursement requirements of a Medicare Advantage Organization. This is offered  in the event a provider has not signed an agreement with one of the plans. If the provider has signed an agreement, the terms of the agreement will apply and CMS has no authority over a private business arrangement. In other words, the payment guide does not apply to the network providers of a plan.

Co-pays planned for kids on PeachCare

 

The PeachCare for Kids program would ask families with children ages 6 and up to pay co-payments ranging from 65 cents to $25 under a plan reviewed Thursday by the state Board of Community Health.

 Updates on Dentistry Proposal, Dialysis Deal

 

 

The Georgia Board of Dentistry on Friday rejected a proposed rule that public health officials feared would have restricted dental hygienists' work with low-income patients.

Several health groups had said the provision, if approved, would require a dentist to examine a patient before a hygienist can apply sealants, clean teeth and perform other preventive dental services in a public health setting.

Hygienists currently can visit schools and Head Start centers without being accompanied by a dentist, the health groups said. If a dentist had to examine each child first, it could make such trips cost-prohibitive, hygienists said.

Census Bureau: Number Of Uninsured Americans Rose Slightly In 2010

 

In an annual report released today, Census Bureau data indicated that the number of Americans without health insurance coverage rose to 49.9 million in 2010 from 49 million in 2009. The percentage of uninsured -- 16.3 percent -- did not change. Also, despite the economic downturn, the percentage and number of people covered by Medicaid -- 15.9 percent and 48.6 million -- did not change in 2010.
