Archbold has officially announced the launch of a robotic surgery program featuring the daVinci® Surgical System.

On April 14, 2011 there will be a free community lecture presented by Dr. Sandra Reed at the Williams Auditorium at Archbold Hospital. Dr. Edward Hall will be a contributing speaker.

The Georgia Rural Health Association (GRHA) is recruiting students to become part of a growing organization that advocates for the health of rural Georgia. For just $20, students can participate in a network of statewide health providers, an exclusive mailing list, in the annual conference, and GRHA sponsored events. Additionally, student members have access to state and national reports as well as access to local, state, and national rural news and policies. Osteoporosis: Bone Fractures

 
Bone fractures are the most common physical symptom of osteoporosis. More than 2 million fractures per year are related to the disease, and one out of every two women over 50 will have an osteoporosis-related fracture.

The areas most often fractured due to complications from osteoporosis are: rib, spine, wrist, hip and stress fractures (foot fractures). 

Wonder if it's time for you to have a bone density test? Bone density tests (also called bone mineral density tests or bone scans) evaluate the strength of your bones by measuring a small part of one or a few bones. Knowing the strength of your bones can help your doctor recommend prevention steps and osteoporosis medication, if needed, to prevent bone loss and fractures.
