NYNY Spotlight
Nick is a 2011 Fellow attending Cornell University where he studies Architecture. His passion for architecture stems from his family as well as his interests in the technology of building and the creativity of design. This summer, Nick is studying abroad in Amsterdam, Germany, and Switzerland through the Terre Verde 2012 Program with Cornell University. His courses focus on ecological awareness in architecture, art, design, and engineering.

Katie
We are thrilled to honor 2010 and 2012 Mentor Coach Katie Kaplun for her continued commitment to the NYNY community. Katie is a member of our inaugural 2010 class who renewed her commitment as a Mentor Coach for another two years as part of our 2012 class. Katie not only supports our Fellows, she has also provided support to NYNY by sharing her expertise in market research with our team as we develop our surveying capabilities. NYNY is excited to survey our various stakeholders and we are enormously appreciative of Katie's assistance in this process. Thank you, Katie!

Dear friends of NYNY,
We're not letting wilting heat and derechos slow down NYNY! During our July 28 workshop, we matched our 2012 Mentor Coaches and Fellows. These pairs will work together for two years during our Fellows Program. I want to thank all of our Mentor Coaches and volunteers for making such a large commitment to NYNY. We know our Fellows can only excel and grow under your guidance and example. We are also excited to continue to build our first expansion effort, New Jersey Needs You (NJNY), which will launch in the fall to replicate our successful Fellows Program. The NJNY team includes Executive Director Chanda Gibson, Vice President of Strategic Partnerships Pauly Rodney, and the newest addition, Associate Director Tamyra Hunt. The application for the first class of NJNY Fellows and Mentor Coaches is open, so please refer those in your networks with New Jersey ties and interests here!
We also have a number of events coming up in the near future and look forward to seeing you all there, including our Annual Benefit, our BBQ & You fundraiser and the ING Marathon (featuring Team NYNY). Please continue to spread the word about NYNY and our opportunities!

Picture this: Thousands of NYNY volunteers, Fellows and supporters in NYNY gear lining the marathon route on November 4th as Team NYNY runs by during the 2012 ING NYC Marathon! Special NYNY t-shirts and hoodies will soon be available for purchase to mark both Robert's 50th marathon and to support the running and fund raising efforts of Josh, Keith, Melissa, Nasir, and Will! The Princeton Review Wins NYNY's Game Changer Award!
|
Congratulations to The Princeton Review for receiving NYNY's Game Changer Award for being a wonderful partner! In addition to supporting NYNY financially, they provided a free GMAT and GRE class for NYNY Fellows as well as scholarships for LSAT and MCAT classes. The Princeton Review also provided classroom space for NYNY's ESL class. They created a summer internship for an NYNY Fellow and hired a Fellow as a Campus Representative.
