In fact, we have two items of equal importance.                                            

New Item #1:

 

Two long time clients and friends of ours, Lynn and Ed Martin, are interested in hosting / strengthening the macrobiotic community of South Florida, and hope that you will be interested in joining them.

 

Their invitation is below:

 

We are a green-minded macrobiotic couple wishing to create macro / vegan support group meetings here in South Florida. Our goal for these meetings is to make a connection with, network with, support, and exchange ideas and recipes with like-minded people / friends. It would be great if we could have somewhat regularly scheduled potlucks (we are willing to use our home), and/or group dinner meetings at a health conscious restaurant in the area (any ideas?). If you are open to exploring this, please send us a reply so that we can figure out which idea is most amenable to everyone's lifestyle and time frame.

News Item #2:

 

Wholly Macro will be closing  

for two weeks in two weeks.  

We will be closed the week of Feb. 29,  

and the week of March 7.

We will re-open the week of March 14, and will send that menu out on March 10.

 

As always, and especially for anyone new to the Wholly Macro Delivery world, we encourage you to order extra food, and freeze it for use while we are closed. We have some great menu's coming up, including this one, with plenty of freezer friendly options.

Fall In Health, Love Will Follow

This week's menu won't be delivered until February 15. A day late and a dollar short for Valentines Day. This year. But read on, because we want to tell you all about the sexy, strengthening, healthy, and beautifying foods we have in store for you this week. If you start eating them now, you will not only be at your best in time for next Valentines Day, but you will be at your best every day from now until then as well!! Of course, if you have been ordering from us all along, well, you should have No Problemo, as Jaime likes to say!

 

This weeks Shiitake Mushroom Barley Soup is full of cholesterol lowering - artery unclogging shiitake mushrooms. Why is this important, besides the obvious reasons? Because it will help to keep your blood circulation flowing freely so that it can get to all of your strategic organs, including, but not limited to, your heart!

 

It is also full of whole grain barley, which is prized in Asia for it's ability to restore the skin to flawless perfection by cleansing the blood of accumulated fat that can make the skin look dull and lifeless.

 

And what is sexier than beautiful skin?

 

We also have a delicious Azuki Bean Vitality Stew. Another dish with multi faceted benefits.

 

  • The Azuki Beans Themselves: Azuki beans are renowned for their ability to strengthen weak, tired, over worked kidneys stemming from stress, stress, and more stress! And who among us does not experience stress?

 

In oriental medicine the kidneys are the regulators of the entire hormone producing, glandular regulating adrenal system of our bodies. So yes, strong kidneys keep our ovaries, prostate, adrenal glands, thyroid gland, and so on strong, healthy, and functioning, among their various other important functions.

 

 

  • The Burdock Root: Burdock root strengthens and cleanses our blood. Many of you may not have ever seen fresh burdock root. It looks like a large tree branch, and grows straight down into the ground, splitting rocks in its path. When we eat it, it imparts that same rock splitting strength into our bodies, giving us long lasting endurance for hmm, we don't know, any activity you may need your strength and endurance for (if you get our gist)!!

 

And Let's see, we have a long time favorite Wholly Macro dish on this week's menu: The Tofu "Chickenless" Salad, which is full of naturally occurring, healthy plant based phyto estrogens via the tofu. Good for women as a natural source of the good kind of estrogen, and good for men too, especially men with prostate issues.

 

 

And last but not least, we have our Carrot Cake With Tofu Cream Cheese Icing, spiked with  the delicious indulgence of  dairy and caffeine free carob chips, providing you with a healthy way to enjoy the eroticism that a delicious dessert invokes, especially on Valentines Day, without the guilt, and without the sugar crash. Who wants to end a perfect evening lethargically due to too much sugar??

 SHIITAKE MUSHROOM BARLEY MISO SOUP                                         SMALL___ LARGE___
A rich and creamy blend of high fiber whole grain barley and pearled barley cooked with mineral rich and digestive kombu sea vegetable, the uniquely medicinal and flavorful shiitake mushrooms along with the more traditional cremini mushrooms, some high protein-low fat "meaty" seitan, and sweetly blanched carrot, celery, yellow onion, and parsnip dices, in an enzyme rich, strengthening barley miso, ginger, and wakame sea vegetable base, garnished with a sprinkle of fresh green chives.

VEGETABLE LACED POLENTA AND BROWN RICE TERRINE                    SMALL___ LARGE___
This dish makes such a beautiful presentation, and it is healthy too! Ground dried corn is cooked into a creamy polenta, laced with fresh corn, yellow onion, and green peas, then layered with energy balancing and sustaining medium grain brown rice cooked with mineral rich kombu sea vegetable, and garnished with blood building fresh green parsley.

AZUKI BEAN VITALITY STEW                                                                   SMALL___ LARGE___
Beautiful, shiny deep red, highly mineralized and good for the kidney azuki beans, are cooked with mineral rich kombu sea vegetable, relaxing for the stomach and pancreas naturally sweet yellow onions, fresh and juicy circulation promoting ginger juice and root, sweet orange kabocha squash, deeply cleansing fresh burdock root, and a garnish of fresh green chives. Vitalizing!!

TOFU "CHICKENLESS" SALAD                                                                SMALL___ LARGE___
This tastes so close to the real thing, and is so much healthier, that it is one of those head scratching questions: why settle for the unhealthy version, when this healthy version is so much better?? Calcium and protein rich chunks of tofu are pan fried, then tossed with naturally diuretic crisp green celery, blanched bright red onions, gorgeously orange carrots, good for the heart and liver wild and bitter green arugula, cleansing and subtly spicy red radish, chlorophyll rich fresh green parsley, naturally fermented live enzyme rich pickled cucumbers, toasted almond slivers, and a creamy dairy free tofu mayonaisse.

Pure white good for the stomach and pancreas potassium rich cauliflower florettes, calcium and iron rich deep green broccoli florettes, flavorful lung/large intestine supportive fresh lotus root, bright orange beta carotene rich bites of kabocha squash, root, root, root for rutabaga, sweet and subtly spicy good for the spleen and pancreas parsnips, and fat and toxin busting daikon root, are steamed to juicy perfection, then topped with a digestion and circulation promoting, stomach and intestine strengthening, kuzu, yellow onion, ginger, and shoyu nishime style sauce.

Whole wheat pastry flour, vitamin E and omega fatty acid rich sunflower oil, and the gentle sweetness of brown rice syrup form the base of this lovely and seasonal cake that is laced throughout with beta carotene rich flecks of bright orange carrots, moist and rich pieces of shredded coconut, calcium rich slivers of fresh almonds, iron rich currants,delectable morsels of carob chips and subtle nuances of nutmeg and cinnamon, all topped with a thick and delicious agar agar mineral rich sea vegetable based tofu cream cheese icing.
