Greetings!
Please find the June 3, 2010 Wholly Macro Delivery Menu below, in the Weekly Menu section of this newsletter.
As mentioned previously, for about the last 3 weeks in fact, Wholly Macro will be closed June 10, 17, and 24. We will re-open and resume our Delivery Service July 1, and will be sending out the July 1 Menu / Newsletter on June 26.
As we suggested in the previous few newsletters, Order Extra Food This Week!! It is still not too late, as there are several items on this weeks menu that will freeze well, and can come in very handy / hold you over, until we re-open and can resume sending you freshly prepared state of the art healing natural food again on a weekly basis.
Last week we sent out the Final Bills for May, 2010. Since we will only be open for this one week in June, we are going to tack the June 1 bill onto the month of July for those of you who pay on a monthly basis. But please, feel free to remit the June 3 payment at any time in order to keep your own records straight, as we realize that waiting until the end of July, when I send it out as the Final Bill for July, may disrupt your own personal record keeping.
This past week I received a mystery package in the mail. On Monday. Probably our busiest day of the week. It was from Hay House. I don't know if you all are familiar with Hay House. It is a publishing company empire, founded by Louise L. Hay, author of numerous, numerous, inspirational books. Please take a look at her website. You will find her to be a dynamo, and the force behind many other well known inspirational authors / motivational speakers.
Anyway, I opened the package, thinking: what did I order, I don't remember ordering anything. In it I found a book called Modern Day Miracles. I was happy to receive the book, knowing that her books have guided me and inspired me through many phases of my life, but also knowing that I did not order this book. I had to put it aside, as the Monday processing of food delivery orders beckoned. For hours, the book laid on the chair in my office where I had set it, as my mind kept trying to "place it". Why did I receive it. Did it hold a special message for me. What was its mysterious purpose. What did its presence mean? The questions remained unanswered as I raced with time to get all of Monday's busy work done in order to clear the path for the prepping and cooking on Tuesday and Wednesday. All of a sudden a light went off in my brain. Over a year earlier, I had received a newsletter from Louise Hay asking her readers to submit a story, if they had one, in relation to one of her first books: You Can Heal Your Life. Are any of you familiar with that book? It is a classic. Louise wrote it many years ago, following her own cancer diagnosis. In it, she correlates physical symptoms with emotions. And in her true fashion, she includes positive affirmations to guide you through those physical and emotional barriers so that you can not only become aware of them, but release them. She said, in the newsletter, that she was going to collect all of the stories she received, and select several of them for a book she was going to compile in the future, based on You Can Heal Your Life, called Modern Day Miracles.
I had a huge story about that book, and how it had come into my life, and guided me through my own health challenges many a time. (I mean, lets face it, I have a huge story about just about everything!), So I wrote my story, and submitted it. I wrote my story because I really wanted to express it and share it, with Louise especially, to let her know how much she, and her books, had done for me over the years. I had no expectations, so had no fear of failure. So perfect. The fear of failure can hold one back from any possibility of success as you all may have noticed in your own lives. I never heard back from her or her company, and initially assumed that my story had not been selected, even though I thought it to be a good one, and one I hold close to my heart. But since I had written it entirely from my heart, with no expectations, I just forgot / let go of it, in its entirety. I even forgot the title of the then non-existent book.
When the light bulb went off though, I thought: Could this mystery book, lying on my office chair, be that book? I had to stop what I was doing. I grabbed the book, opened it, and found my story in it, just as I had written it. A huge range of emotions poured through me at once. I was shocked, elated, proud of myself, grateful to Louise, amazed at the grace of the universe, and on and on. I was a published author, in one of my favorite author / publisher's books no less. You can find the book on the Louise Hay Website, www.louisehay.com . Or, I can send you a copy of my story only, not the entire book, if you contact me at whollymacro@bellsouth.net.
One of my dreams is to write books. It is my passion. That, and creating beautiful, healthy, balanced food. And I want nothing more, than to become a Hay House author. But, my earlier life did not support any of this. I am having to discover these passions and skills on my own, now, finally, as I learn to support myself in these endeavors. To trust myself. To believe in myself. To approve of myself. Then, in a surprise moment, through this totally random act of kindness, and approval, this gift given to me by Louise Hay, this total stranger reached out to me personally, and opened a window in my heart, and gave me the courage that will now allow my words to flow.
And as if by well intentioned coincidence, I received a newsletter in the mail the same week speaking about how doing good deeds, or just being kind, is contagious. The behavior of a few can influence many, new studies suggest. When people benefit from kindness, they forward it, which creates greater cooperation in social networks say researchers at Harvard University and UCLA.
Happiness is contagious. But so is loneliness, sadness, negativity, and illness.
This domino effect of contagion is nothing new really. The power of positive thinking is a well known and real entity, as is the power of being in proximity with uplifting and high energy people as opposed to negative people.
My teachers, my macrobiotic teachers and Oriental Medicine teachers, teach us to use the food we eat to create this same domino effect. They teach us to equate whole natural foods with a peaceful world. One peaceful world. They teach us to utilize the good energy created by healthy and real food, as a unique tool for creating peace and harmony, not only in our own bodies, but throughout this entire beautiful planet as well. The idea is to choose foods that are grown in a compatible way with the planet. Which means, choosing foods that grow seasonally, and that are grown peacefully, in their natural state, and are not heavily poisoned with chemicals that kill virtually everything they come into contact with. Including us. There is no need to genetically engineer the food nature created for us, in a futile attempt to make it more productive, more disease resistant, or more unseasonably weather tolerant. There is no need to alter and / or process food. There is no need to mass produce livestock and fish, feeding them the same chemically treated genetically engineered foods. Making them sick and unhealthy, and in turn making us sick and unhealthy. This goes against the natural flow of things, the perfect order of the universe as my teachers like to say. The idea is, to choose foods that contribute to a peaceful and healthy body, which in turn creates a domino effect of a healthy mind, a healthy spirit, and a peaceful and healthy planet. One peaceful world.
Our thanks go out to all of you, who help is to create the incredible domino effect of health known as Wholly Macro, and to women like Louise L. Hay, who reach out to total strangers like myself, and infect them with happiness, light, and positive energy!
We wish you a pleasant few weeks, and look forward to continuing to infect each other with health and prosperity when we return.
Our very best to you as always.

PRESSED SALAD WITH PUMPKIN SEED UMEBOSHI TAHINI SMALL___ LARGE___
I never understood what a "pressed salad" was, until I mastered the fine art of making this ultimate salad. Any raw vegetables can be used, because they are quite literally "pressed" under weight, with umeboshi plum in this case, until the raw and watery quality is released, and removed, and you are left with the pressed/marinated/naturally pickled, rich in digestive enzyme, alkalizing, vitamin, mineral, and fiber rich healthiness of brightly colored red and green cabbage, yellow onions, celery, red radish, fresh apple, and collard greens, with a light dressing of freshly ground trace mineral rich pumpkin seed tahini.
SPARLING CIDER VERY BERRY KANTEN SMALL___ LARGE___
"Kanten" is the macrobiotic version of "jello", made with the naturally gelatinous and high in fiber agar agar sea vegetable, which not only gives this dish texture, but also contributes the abundant minerals sea vegetables are so renowned for. Luscious slices of fresh and seasonal, plump and juicy strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, and cherries, are free floating in a cherry juice based agar agar gel to create a refreshing and satisfying healthy dessert, that is spiked with all natural sparkling cider to create an effervescent quality that rivals any creation imaginable.
