. Dear FJA families,
It is hard to believe one month of school has already passed. We hope your first month went well.
We would like to thank the many families who have returned a volunteer form indicating their interest in helping with a particular event(s). If you volunteered, please be sure to add the FJA PTG email to your contacts, fjaptg@yahoo.com, to ensure you receive our emails. This year we are conducting business solely through email, so it is important that you receive our emails, especially if you volunteered for an event. We would hate for you to miss out on any news!
We previously had planned a Donuts/Muffins morning get-together for September 15th. However, we were unable to rally enough volunteers. Therefore, we we will not be able to hold this event. Hopefully, we can regroup and hold the event in the spring.
Next month we will have two events. So please be sure to watch for upcoming emails, especially if you volunteered for either event. We will need volunteers for both. The events are:
Family Game & Popcorn Night, October 14th from 6 pm to 8 pm. This family get together night is for grades 1 - 6. All students must be accompanied by an adult family member. Students are asked to bring a bag of popcorn and their favorite game to share (please, no electronic games).
Fall Festival (Oct. 29th) & Scholastic Book Fair (Oct. 29th-30th). This year, we will be having our Book Fair in conjunction with the Fall Festival, as well as the next day. If you are new to FJA, this is our big event with fun, games, food, and a pie in the face of a teacher chosen by students. It is all around fun and a great way for each classroom to raise much needed funds.
October is a big month for us. Again, please be sure to add us to your email contacts or check your bulk mail folder. We know everyone is busy, therefore we are working solely through email. However, it will only succeed if everyone checks their email periodically.
Two more reminders...
Keep saving your Box Tops! Be on the lookout for collection boxes in your child(ren)'s classroom(s). If there isn't one, please feel free to bring a shoe box to school and make one for your classroom. Your teacher will appreciate it! We will have a school wide contest shortly. Stay tuned!
Another reminder about the School Cents contest going on...
MAKE YOUR SHOPPING DOLLARS COUNT FOR FJA!
Please remember to drop off your receipts from all the stores in the Flagstaff Mall and Food Court, as well as the Flagstaff Marketplace-Best Buy, Petco, Home Depot!, Marshall's, Ashley Furniture and CostPlus World Market. Receipts will be collected around both campuses-just look for the School Cents logo on the white boxes starting September 1. Since only original receipts will be accepted for school credit, please write your name and teacher name on the back of any receipt you'd like returned to you, or take them directly to the Customer Service kiosk to have them counted. (The originals are stamped to prevent double dipping.)

Without family volunteers, we would just be another ordinary school. An ordinary school has no outside fun activities and gatherings allowing us to get to know one another as a community. Let's be a community!
