This year Motown Records celebrates its fiftieth anniversary and Soul of Motown brings a selection of some of the best music from the 50 year history of the label to audiences in Europe.
Soul of Motown was first performed in the Netherlands during a sold-out tour of theaters in 2007 and the success called for a sequel. Soul of Motown II was born and toured The Netherlands and Belgium in 2008 and 2009.
Motown records was one of the most important, prominent and independent record labels ever, it developed itself into a successful music company. It was the fundament for the success of African-American artists in the USA and throughout the World. Epic number one hits such as My Girl, Dancing in the street, Baby Love, I heard it to the grapevine,Can you feel it and Sexual Healing became timeless classics that are still on radio today. Every day.
The undisputed King of Pop, Michael Jackson, was the biggest artist ever to emerge from the Motown Label when he started his career there with his brothers as The Jackson Five. The Soul of Motown celebrates and commemorates the legendary Jackson 5 in addition to numerous other Motown superstars including Marvin Gaye, The Temptations, The Four Tops and The Supremes.
Soul of Motown is not a tribute concert like so many others. It is a fully choreographed, theatrical experience with dancers, live musicians and A-level singers. Many of the performers have backgrounds as featured performers in major Broadway musicals. A guaranteed audience pleaser for all ages! |
