The Awakenings start this weekend!
WE NEED BOY'S & GIRL'S APPLICATIONS
The Awakening is a weekend experience similar to the Great Banquet, but designed specifically for youth. It is for high school students who are 15 years old or who have completed their freshman year through senior year. Awakening applications, sponsor's forms, and brochures are available at Lampstand Presbyterian Church or online at lampstandpc.org.

Important Information about Awakening Weekends:
√ It is suggested that parents of "sleepers" should have limited contact with their kids on the weekend. It is also suggested that parents not be servers on the weekends their children attend, except on the last day of the event. (This is similar to what is suggested for the spouses on a Great Banquet Weekend.)
√ There is a dress code for the weekends - dress to conform to public school dress codes.
√ The Lampstand Church campus is a NO SMOKING campus during the Awakening weekends.
√ Servers at meals should serve during the time specified and then leave the campus. Please do
not come to stay for the entire day or evening.
√ NO Cell phones or IPods

Agape Gifts
One of the agape gifts given to all of the "sleepers" will be a Lost Bridge Awakening t-shirt (cost $10.00 each). The Awakening Committee is requesting donations to offset the cost of these t-shirts. If you are interested, please send your donation to Lampstand Presbyterian Church, 655 South Airport Road, Decatur, IL 62521, made out to Lost Bridge Great Banquet and labeled "Awakening T-shirt Fund."
Also, please consider what youth agape your reunion group can make for these "sleepers." Banners are a great way to send your love to these "sleepers"! If you have any questions regarding Agape gifts, please call Liz Holmgren at 217-556-2620.
Also, the Awakening committee is requesting donations of Christian books and CDs (teen oriented). These items can be new or gently used. |
The Kitchen Needs You:
The Kitchen needs you - but before you sign up for a serving spot - please be aware that you are making a FIRM COMMITMENT OF 2 HOURS. That is the amount of time the kitchen team will be counting on your help. You are committing to: help set up, complete last-minute meal prep, SERVE, introduce yourself
(take a bow - your help was instrumental!) and CLEAN-UP! Leaving BEFORE you have fulfilled your commitment causes great hardship for our hardworking kitchen team. Our service "behind the scenes" on these weekends is one of the ways we show our agape love for the guests.
This is your opportunity to be the hands and feet of Jesus - Come with a servant's heart. When you sign up to serve - please supply both your phone number and your e-mail address. Remember - if you are unable to fulfill your commitment: find a substitute and let Carolyn Oliver know (217-425-9290)

Snacks are always needed!!
Guests and team members like a variety of fruits and vegetables, meats and cheeses, in addition to the traditional sweet and salty snacks. Donations of 2-liter bottles of soda (diet & regular) are also appreciated.
