Welcome!
Hello Everyone,
Our garden is lush and happily growing
right now. The comfrey is huge! There is abundant flavorful basil, mustard
greens and kale. We've been successful
with a purple basil, who's taste is melt in your mouth sweet with just a touch
of spiciness. If you have a chance, try
the purple basil. Tomatoes, fresh
mozzarella and basil with olive oil and balsamic vinegar is my favorite meal
right now.
The compost is turning into soil at
quite a fast pace, considering I can never seem to get it hot enough. I started caring for the compost knowing
nothing about it. Two videos and three
books later, I still don't quite get composting, but it's turning into soil
anyway. I've got the basics, but I want
to take a class in troubleshooting compost, if anyone knows of any, let me
know.
On a different note, the tension of
impending change is still building. I am
reminded of the Push Me, Pull You in Dr. Doolittle. We are being asked to change and change fast
and at the same time the energies are going backwards, like an undertow, and
dragging us back with it. Like the
Earth's Crust, the structure of our lives, societies, and way in which we
perceive ourselves as a species, are undergoing earthquakes. Where do we go to be safe while being
immersed in such deep change? Below, I
talk more about how to hear your Intuitive Voice. I believe that that is a good place to start.
We can do this.
With all my love and support,
Akasha

New Moon In Leo
Heart and Play
New Moon in Leo is our first break after
three eclipses. Eclipses tend to stimulate
our shadow selves, bringing them more out into consciousness. Leo moon will inspire us to take a break and
have fun. Think about what playfully motivates
you. Now is a good time, to revisit your
desires and dreams and take steps to make some of them happen.
Leo rules the heart. Throughout this time of uncertainty, make
sure you do the things that give you the "heart" to keep going. Eat
well, sleep well, and play well. Get
into nature on a regular basis. In the
next few weeks it is important to schedule time to play and revitalize yourself
either in solitude, with community, or with supportive friends.
Continued Mars Dynamics
This play and renew time is no
light recommendation. This is crucial
right now. We still have four more weeks
of the build up to the climatic exact opposition on September 15th. Judging by the many people I have talked to,
the stress has already reached major proportions. For those of you who are living in the United
States, it is important to understand, that
all the different planetary aspects are hitting right on the US Moon and
Venus. These planets are especially
connected to our emotional and child body.
If you have been experiencing, panic attacks, anxiety, and suicidal desires
these are valid feelings triggered by the intensity of what is happening all
around you. Reach out and get help; you
are not alone in this. An astrology
reading can help you discern where in your life the transits are hitting you
hardest and where the allied planets are that can help mitigate the
impact. Some astrologers have been
comparing this period in time to when Copernicus shook the world view of Earth
being the center of the universe to Earth revolving around the Sun. Our whole structure of existence is in flux.
There are many planetary
configurations still in affect this new moon.
With Mars squaring the Uranus/Saturn opposition, the tension and
inclination to react first/think later is continuing to build. Now Pluto and Mercury are entering into this mix,
turning it from a T-Square into a Grand Cross.
That means the stars are strong arming us even more to make structural
changes in our lives personally and as a species. With Mars in Gemini and Mercury in Virgo,
both air signs, the tension will continue to discharge through our verbal and
written communications. This is very aptly
demonstrated in the war with words around health care reform. Keep counting to ten before reacting or
engaging in any "discussions" around subjects that push your buttons, because
we are all on hair trigger reactions right now.
Jupiter Chiron Neptune Conjunction
Then there is the ongoing
conjunction between Jupiter, Chiron and Neptune in Aquarius. This planet configuration motivates us to
honor and accept our unique self as well as to find the friends and community where
we feel at home. This is the first time
that Neptune and Jupiter have been conjunct in Aquarius since 1843. The years following that conjunction featured
new visions and new humanitarian and reform movements. The way I see it, 2009 is going to be like a difficult
labor; lots of contractions and pain and screaming. Then comes 2010 and the only planet
retrograde will be Mars until March, but all the big collective planets will be
direct. That is when you'll see the
action. The baby will have been born and
the energies will be moving forward, (I use the metaphor very loosely). Until
then perseverance, tenacity and a healthy stubborn will to live is good to
cultivate.
Overall, this is a conjunction that
ushers in the ability to have a stronger connection with the Divine and more attunement
to our interconnectedness with ourselves as a species and to Earth. Unfortunately, this is the end result. For many, the process of getting there has
not been pleasant. Jupiter has a
tendency to enlarge and expand the effects of planetary transits to excess, Chiron
can be like a painful wound that's never been healed from childhood's past, and
Neptune adds in delusion and drama. Many people I have talked to keep
experiencing set back after set back.
Gone is the one step forward two steps back process. It has been, for them, no step forward and 12
steps back. The good news is that
Jupiter is starting to move away from the other two. So for those of you, who have been blocked
from moving forward in changing your life, it will soon start to shift. Hang in there as best you can, this will
alleviate as Jupiter moves further away.
Though the conjunction will happen again later you won't have the
undertow anymore due to the planets going direct.
I recommend patience and compassion
through the year. Please try and do
cathartic exorcise so that you can have an outlet to release frustration,
anger, and anxiety. Go to a comedy club
or watch some videos that you know will make you laugh. Roller Coasters, water parks, making sand
castles and smashing them on the beach, can also help. When was the last time you and your friends
had an imaginary picnic in the park? If
nothing else, here is a great chant that can help release some steam:
"When in worry, when in doubt
Run in circles, scream and shout!
Augh! Augh! Augh! Augh!"
And literally run in circles waving
your arms and scream and shout and get it out of your system.
I wish you the best of luck.

Dancing With Intuitive Voice
In my last issue, I wrote about how
to tell the difference between the Talking Self, Intuitive Voice and one's
Spirit Guides. Well, I don't think my wise
self was very satisfied, because she taught me more about the Intuitive Voice. I want to clearly state, that the Intuitive
Voice is from within you and is part of your wise self. It always has the well being of you and
others at the heart of it's guidance. It
will not advise you to do anything counter to your personal ethics or
integrity.
I was up at Spirit Rock in Woodacre,
CA for a singing event. After the concert/sing-along, my friend
showed me a wooden platform back up in the hills, ripe for star gazing. It was dark, quiet and surprisingly clear and
warm. We stayed there awhile in
companionable silence, and this is what I learned:
Listening for your Intuitive Voice
is like looking at the night sky. When
you first look up, whether it is bright with city lighting or dark, you only
see a few of the brightest stars. When
you sit back and keep softly gazing, letting your eyes adjust, after awhile you
will start to notice more stars appear.
Keep on gazing gently. You'll see
more and more stars and planets appear, along with shooting stars and maybe
even the Milky Way galaxy.
Hearing your wise self is a lot
like that. When you need some answers to
an emotionally charged problem, very often you don't have a clue. The head noise and anxiety is just like in
the city where the light is so bright you can barely see the stars. The Intuitive Voice is called "She Who
Whispers" for a reason. To hear it you
must go quietly and pay attention. Be
still, hold the space for awhile. It
helps to close your eyes so you are less distracted. Some times your intuition becomes a knowing
that blossoms from within you, just like a star unveiling itself to you. Sometimes it is like a shooting star, where
you perceive a message, quick and is gone.
Some times it is a whole rush of ideas and inspirations that flow fast
one after the other, just like a meteor shower.
It is uncanny how much like the
Intuitive Voice stargazing is. Stare
hard and direct at a star or cluster of stars and it disappears. Soften your eyes and look off to the side of
the star you want to see and it's there.
It is the same with your wise voice.
Think too hard about the message and you will discount it or have
reasons why you don't need to listen to it.
Hear it's soft message and don't let your self think, just follow up on
it. I remember one friend who listened
to her intuition and checked her back door and found it locked. She thought she had wasted her time doing
that as she was late getting to her appointment. But upon leaving, discovered she would have
been in a car crash if she hadn't taken those extra two minutes to check. So you might not know why you are guided to
do things. Sometimes it is to take you
out of harms way and some times it is because the back door truly is unlocked.
This is a great exercise I learned
at the Earth Activist Training permaculture course, at that time taught by Starhawk
and Penny Livingston-Stark. It is a way
of stargazing, but with the ears. This
can be done anywhere. Get comfortable.
be ready to sit for a minimum of 5 minutes, longer is better. Close your eyes and just listen to the
sounds. As you identify or notice each
sound acknowledge that it is there and listen for the sounds behind those
immediate sounds. Once the second level
of sounds are noticed listen for the next layer of sounds behind those and
behind those. Eventually, you will
"hear" the silence behind all those sounds.
Once you've experienced the silence behind the sounds, seek with intent
to hear that which is behind silence. It
is indescribable. This is a great exercise
for getting used to listening for Intuitive Voice, because very often it is
more like a whisper behind the louder sounds and thoughts.
