| About Bob Liekens! |

Bob Liekens, originally from Belgium, traveled to New York City in 1983 to further explore his dance career. That same year, he started his pilates training at The Pilates Studio. Fascinated by the Graham technique, he initially pursued studies at the Graham Center for Contemporary Dance. In 1991, he became one of the first certified teachers in the technique. Subsequently, he taught for two years at the school.
In 1986 Romana Kryzanowska invited him to teach the pilates method. Starting in 1993, he has been instrumental in building her teacher-trainer certification program. He co-created the training manual and originated the current exam system. For several years now, Bob has been invited, both nationally and internationally, to conduct teacher-training seminars, workshops, and continuing education programs.
In September, 2000 he became a director at Power Pilates and is an integral part of the Power Pilates Teacher Training Certification Programs. Bob also practices yoga and in 1999 became a certified yoga teacher.
Bob has been with us before both teaching at the studio and attending art classes at a local art academy in Belmont. This summer he will be continuing his art education in France before gracing the west coast with his teaching! |

Climb the Tower 4-6 PM Taught by Bob Liekens
2 CEC's $99
Are you frustrated with so many exercises to choose from and a lack of order? This workshop starts from the ground up (literally) and is designed for you to leave with the skills/tools you need to create your own intermediate and advanced level class utilizing the tower. We will "climb the tower" together to learn sequences of exercises that make sense.
Prerequisite: Open to teachers and students with intermediate level skills.
Classical Pilates: it's a Workout 6:00-8:00 PM taught by Bob Leikens2 CEC's $99Flow is much more than moving quickly through a list of exercises. Let's figure out what flow is and how to create it within each move, repetition and exercise. Flow has a lot to do with how you think of the workout and how you use your voice. It will change your teaching for the better. Prerequisite: Open to all instructors.
Basics of Anatomy 1:30-5:30 PM taught by Peter Lakis
This is a study of basic anatomical language, which contains an introduction to planes of movement and major concepts of the skeletal and muscular systems. The course includes an outline, literature and hands on experience. Prerequisite: Ideal for instructors and clients who have minimal or no previous anatomical knowledge. Bring your Anatomy of Movement book. This course is a prerequisite for all Power Pilates apparatus programs (unless you can provide proof of attendance in a course within the last five years).

Review of High and Wunda Chair 10:30-1:30 PM
3 CEC's $159.00
Joseph Pilates created this unique piece of equipment as his own version of the "Home Reformer." This underused piece of equipment tends to be misunderstood and therefore left out of sessions. There are so many Chair exercises that can be incorporated into a client's session. Learn how to go deeper into these exercises by understanding their underlying principles and utilizing this vocabulary sequentially with flow. This workshop will enable you to challenge your clients and take them to the next level with a different and exciting workout.
Prerequisite: Instructors and clients with beginner/intermediate Wunda Chair experience.
Reformer on the Mat (Advanced/Super Advanced) 2-5 PM
3 CEC's $159.00
Create a new challenge for your more advanced classes! This workshop will review the Reformer order, exercise details and their application to the mat. No springs, no straps, just you and gravity. The breakdown of the various elements of the exercises helps achieve greater clarity and will add depth to your cueing. This course is a perfect complement to Reformer on the Tower. Be prepared to move and sweat!
Prerequisite: Instructors and clients with advanced mat experience. |
