Feldenkrais Workshop Teacher
Taba Ofuka, originally from Japan, comes with a well-balanced background of arts & science: trained extensively in classical ballet and ballroom dance, she is also a martial artist holding a black belt in Aikido.
 

Her life-long interest in connecting with others in harmony and years of learning and training in Feldenkrais, Aikido and dance helped her to develop abilities to listen, touch without fear and deep respect for the others.

Taba competed in amateur ballroom dance circuit as a championship level dancer until May 2008, and currently is teaching Feldenkrais & Ballroom dancing in SF Bay area.

Greetings!  

June is a busy month for everyone and we have lots of classes and sessions times to work into your busy schedule. First, if you or anyone you know has been interested in delving deeper into the Pilates Method, we start our next training June 4th with a Power Pilates Beginner Mat training weekend. It's a great weekend and it's open to everyone!
 
Next, we're offering a free workshop to introduce you to Feldenkrais on June 26th(see below). And then in between we have lots of classes and sessions available for you. We have some teachers who will be on vacation in the next few weeks (me in July!) and great teachers who will be subbing in for the classes. 
 
Let us know if you need a time that we don't have a class scheduled and we'll put the time on a wish list. Meantime try a private session with a certified instructor or apprentice. Don't forget your core while you are busy getting ready for the summer! Swimsuit season is here!!
Introduction to the Feldenkrais Method

FELDENKRAIS METHOD®
Come to Purely Pilates to learn about the The Feldenkrais Method in a free workshop taught by Futaba Ofuka. This movement style is an organic way to improve our coordination skills by enhancing our body awareness. Attending to what we are sensing and feeling while our body is going through organized movements has strong influence in our ability to notice our subconscious habits and preferences. This recognition of habits and preferences makes change and self-correction possible and easy. It further leads us to new options and higher organization where muscles have to work less to be more active and dynamic.

The founder of the method, Dr. Moshe Feldenkrais, designed over 1,000 different movement sequences to accelerate this learning process.
In Feldenkrais lessons, learning happens in conscious and subconscious levels. Some students notice a substantial change in their sensation and visual appearance immediately while others may sense more subtle and gradual changes.

Power Pilates apprentices teach at reduced rates!
We have wonderful new teachers going through our Power Pilates teacher training programs who are ready to work with you! The rate for apprentices at 0-400 hours of their training is single private $35 and 5 sessions for $150 ($30 each). This rate increases in the 400-600 hour level to $50/session or $225 for 5 sessions ($45 each). Call or email us to schedule an appointment!
