It's been a busy month! With landscape designs to draw, new pots to select, exciting spring containers to plant up and the opportunity to share all this fun with a great audience at the Best of the Northwest arts and fine crafts show - what more could a girl ask? Well I also found myself doing a spot n KOMO TV and radio and my wonderful gardening buddy Ciscoe Morris even invited me to a radio interview on KIRO. You know me - always happy to talk plants.
if you like to 'talk' plants but don't know quite where to start putting them together, this is the time to email me and set up an appointment. I'll whisk those container gardens into shape for the summer faster than you can drink a margarita. I'm offering a special discount for orders placed this month too!
For those clients who would like me to plant their hanging baskets this year, orders will need to be placed this month for delivery in May.

Le Jardinet in Fine Gardening this Month
Have you picked up your copy of Fine Gardening this month? Be sure to read my Great Plant Picks article on page 17.
I selected 'Wissel's saguaro' false cypress for its huggability and slender good looks! I'm sure you could find room for one too. If you live in the Seattle area, Molbak's nursery in Woodinville and Dragonfly farms nursery in Kingston usually carry these. Tell them Karen sent you!

PLANT OF THE
MONTH
Dwarf purple rhododendron
R. impeditum |
These make perfect hummocks of grey-green foliage year round but in late spring these are almost completely hidden by the rich lavender blooms. They thrive in full sun here in Seattle but afternoon shade is needed in hot spots and they prefer fertile, moist but well drained soil. I love to use them under shrubs such as the fragrant Korean spice
viburnum which fills the air with fragrance in late April, just as this little beauty forms a lilac carpet to set off the viburnum's white flowers.
