 November 2011
DB fall

What's missing from the above photograph? Can you tell? It's attractive, colorful and has my signature 'abundant' look - yet the composition is based entirely on foliage.

This is the type of winter container garden that will look fabulous all the way through winter - in the SHADE!

Knowing which plants to use is hard enough but understanding how to combine them can be daunting. That's where I come in of course!

For the keen gardeners amongst you who just need some guidance and inspiration I can help. I have just published an
article Monochromatic Foliage Combinations  - simple, elegant on my blog for you to enjoy. I was also invited to contribute an article on Winter Container Gardens for the award winning blog Urban Gardens, the brain child by Robin Horton. That should give you a few ideas to be going on with!

Or rather than you having to spend time getting to the nurseries, worrying about what to choose and then have to plant while it's raining I can do that with a smile no less. Just get in touch and I'll wave my magic trowel.

Fall/Winter Containers - time's running out!

There is a very small window of time left to replant your containers for fall and winter. As soon  as the soil freezes planting comes to a halt - and that happened in early November last year. Trust me, chipping frozen soil from a container to form a planting hole is neither easy nor recommended!

Call or email me today to schedule your appointment. Don't get stuck with frozen geraniums.

Le Jardinet in Fine Gardening Magazine

I was contacted by Danielle Sherry, senior editor at Fine Gardening magazine a few weeks ago. She needed an article  - FAST! Well you know the saying - "if you need something doing, ask a busy woman". It was on her desk, with photographs in less than 24 hours.

This was just a short piece for the Great Plant Picks section so I have to confess it really wasn't hard to do although it's always fun to 'talk plants'. You'll have to wait and see what I chose and I'll let you know the publication date as soon as I'm told.

PLANT OF THE
MONTH
Calluna firefly
Firefly heather(Calluna vulgaris 'Firefly')

Fabulous in sunny containers or the landscape. The foliage of this variety turns brick red in winter - great with golden conifers or as a color echo under the coral bark maple tree.
