Don't Get Left in the Cold This Winter

Winter is known for its challenging weather - travel becomes hazardous, and ice can cause major havoc to the power supply. By performing regular generator maintenance you can ensure your generator will operate when called upon this winter - keeping you warm, and your pipes from freezing. Here are some simple maintenance steps that we recommend you complete regularly:

· replace worn out parts on a timely basis

· check fluid levels

· inspect batteries and clean connections

· load bank testing

· verify control panel readings and indicators

· change fuel and air filters

Don't wait until a power emergency to think about maintenance. Call one of our certified service technicians if you have any questions about maintaining your generator this winter:  770-381-2424 or toll free 877-776-7693.

Generac
Issue 05/February 2010
Greetings!

Never more than at times of natural disaster is the presence of standby generator power needed. Our hearts and thoughts are with the people of Haiti at this terrible time in their nation's history. Haiti never had an infrastructure capable of delivering electricity to its people; so many people there relied on standby power.  Unfortunately most of that capacity was lost in the quake.

To help in the recovery, donations can be made to the following:  American Red Cross or the Clinton-Bush Haiti Fund.

Regards,
Andy Briggs,
President

Generac Introduces Smart Upgrades

Generac has made sweeping changes in recent months on everything from marketing materials to installation drawings and equipment. These changes are sure to please engineers, contractors and the ultimately the end users of Generac products. Some of the specific upgrades include:
  • Improvements to the enclosures on larger industrial units that provide better sound attenuation, offer a rugged exterior coating with RhinoCoat™ and feature a gasket-free, interconnected roof joint panel that requires no additional caulking. (download pdf)

  • Static connection boxes for improved electrical access - allowing more room and better access for the electrical connections in the connection box. (download pdf)

  • Repositioning of the control panel on larger industrial units to a position lower on the base (mounted near the alternator can) allowing for easier access - in many cases without a ladder or catwalk. (download pdf)

  • Upgrades to technical information and submittal data makes the dealers, engineers and contractors jobs easier. Updates include: New generator spec sheets (pdf), improved installation drawings (pdf) with detailed stub up information and updated prototype test reports (pdf).

Hughes Spalding Children's Hospital (managed by Children's Healthcare) is considered one of the country's leading pediatric hospitals. Located in Downtown, Atlanta, Hughes Spalding provides outstanding care to over 20,000 of Georgia's children each year. Recognizing that improved facilities would contribute to better outcomes and faster healing, the hospital chose to undergo a
43 million dollar expansion plan.

As part of the phase one construction, electrical contractor Inglett & Stubbs worked with Pro Power Solutions to select a Generac Gemini 1000kW generator. This unit was chosen mostly for its redundancy but also because it had a small footprint.

Generac generatorIn 2009, the first phase of the new Children's Healthcare facility opened. The new facility features child and family-friendly amenities, including expanded waiting areas, children's playroom, and inpatient rooms. Now, the Emergency Department, urgent care and radiology are on the same floor to efficiently upgrade patients' care in moments. Phase II of the new facility will include the gift shop, chapel, cafe and additional parking.
