Georgia's Most Experienced Power Solutions Provider

Pro Power Solutions GivesOur charity of choice is My House, a long-term transitional home for babies with special needs, whose parents have lost custody. My House provides a loving home-like setting where babies can live until solid plans for their care have been made. PPS has been donating to My House since 2004. My House contacted PPS that year to have their generator serviced. Once we saw first hand what they did, we decided to service their generator at no cost. Each year PPS holds a customer appreciation golf tournament with proceeds from the tournament going to My House. PPS employees also make an additional charitable donation to My House each holiday season. You can find out more about this special organization at www.myhouseweb.org.

Generac's Bi Fuel Generator
|
A Smart Environmental Choice
If you're looking for an efficient and environmentally friendly back-up generator solution, the Generac Bi Fuel Generator is the choice for you. It is the only true bi-fuel system that is EPA certified direct from the factory - all other bi-fuel systems are retrofitted in the field. This generator uses diesel fuel and natural gas simultaneously resulting in a number of benefits including:
-
Integrated components are specifically engineered to work together
- Reduced fuel storage - since natural gas is the primary fuel, a smaller diesel tank is viable
-
On site fuel - if there is a problem with the natural gas supply, the system automatically switches to 100% on-site diesel without interruption
-
Lower costs than typical mid-range natural gas only generators
- Less engine wear due to the cleaner burning characteristics of natural gas - resulting in a longer engine life and reduced maintenance costs
- Reduced Exhaust - 30% less nitrogen oxides and 50% less particulate matter than comparable diesel engines
- Full warranty and service support included

Preventative Maintenance

Load Bank Testing
A comprehensive preventative maintenance program is critical to the reliability of your standby generator. As part of your annual maintenance we recommend performing a load bank test. A load bank test essentially tests the generator set at full load, making sure that the system performs properly.
The engine is designed to run at full load - and lightly loaded systems, or those exercised weekly without load, are subject to performance deterioration and wet-stacking.
Wet-stacking is a condition in diesel engines in which not all of the fuel is burned. This unburned fuel instead passes through the exhaust valves into the exhaust side of the turbocharger and the exhaust system. This usually occurs when the generator is running at only a small percentage of its full capacity. Wet stacking is detectable by a black "tar-like" discharge around the exhaust pipe connections and around the turbocharger.
Load bank testing allows the engine to reach full operating temperature, and burn away the accumulated residual fuel. The result is a unit that runs cleaner and more efficiently. Load bank testing also reveals any system malfunctions that are likely to occur during an extended power outage.
Any generator set, diesel or gaseous fuel driven, can benefit from load bank testing. Why not rest assured that your standby generator is operating as it was designed to? Call Pro Power Solutions today to add this valuable test to your preventative maintenance plan!

Solutions for Critical Power Needs: Gwinnett County Police Headquarters Annex & E911 Communications Center
Serving one of the largest and fastest growing counties in Georgia, the Gwinnett Police Department is expanding into a 45,000 square foot Annex and E911 Center to better serve its citizens. The building is scheduled to open early in 2010, and will accommodate 180 employees as well as a state-of-the art E-911 Communications Center, Emergency Operations Center and a back-up Data Center.
Team leader on this project, Pete Torres (PPS Sales Engineer), worked directly with electrical engineer, David Chandler of Newcomb and Boyd, to design a system based on multiple units. Pete, along with Bruce Nettesheim (PPS Sales Engineer), managed the project with Wayne J Griffin (Electrical Contractor) and Manhattan Construction (General Contractor). The equipment selected included:
-
1800 kW GENERAC MPS System (Consisting of (3) 600 kW Diesel Generators in Parallel)
-
2000A Zenith Bypass Isolation Switch & 250A Zenith Automatic Transfer Switch
-
8,000 Gallon Convault Tank
- (3) 100 Gallon Pryco Day Tanks
Redundancy was crucial to this project, and therefore Generac's Modular Power System (MPS) was deemed a perfect fit. This solution is also less expensive than a typical single engine solution and is extremely reliable.
On a project this size, Wayne J Griffin's professionalism and attention
to detail allowed the project to move smoothly from beginning to end. John Waldrop, Senior Manager - Georgia Division of Wayne J. Griffin Electric says, "Thanks so much for Pete and the Pro Power team's expertise. You were great to work with, and we look forward to working with you in the near future on another job."
