As the Holiday Season begins, it has finally started to cool off a little here in Arizona--mid 80s or so--and thoughts naturally turn to time together with friends and family (of any variety!).   It is also a time to reflect about all the things we have to be grateful for in our lives.   I am overwhelmed with feelings of gratitude for all that I have in my life and that I've been given the opportunity to live the life of my wildest dreams!   I thank you all for being a part of my life.

I had another wonderful trip to the UK and Ireland with two new videos on  HorseHero.com that I think you will enjoy.

The featured trainer in this newsletter is Susan Hoffman Peacock from Corona, California.  Many of you will recognize her from my last two DVDs.  I have worked with Susan for more than eight years and think you will enjoy getting to know a little about her.

There are some new and exciting things happening at James Shaw Healing Arts next year, a few of those highlights are listed further in the newsletter.  I hope you are as excited as I am about adding these new  opportunites for  healthy living and learning to our offerings.

Here's to a Happy and Healthy Holiday Season!!

Susan Hoffman Peacock     Meet Susan Hoffman Peacock

USDF Nationally Certified Instructor, USDF Silver Medalist

Susan was born and raised in Southern California and is sure she was born loving horses.  She got her first pony at 7 by being such a pest that her next door neighbors sold their pony to her family to get rid of her!  She started teaching at 15 and has looked up many of her early students to apologize!  Her first student was Karen Beason Arnett in 1981 and now Karen's kids ride with Susan too, so she couldn't have been too bad!
My most influential teachers have been Conrad Schumacher, Betsy Stiener, Mette Rosencrantz, Linda Gottlied (My wonderful first instructor/mentor) and, of course, my friend James Shaw.  I have had many instructors and try to learn from everyone of them. The most important thing is to remember that we are always trying to do what's best for the horses.  Then we can have goals for ourselves.
Susan enjoys playing make up artist, hiking, learning. flying (upside down is fun!) with her husband in his airplane.James Shaw & Susan Peacock
She recommends reading all the books you can get your hands on and then discussing them with someone you respect.
Susan is a full time instructor so if you are lucky enough to live in Southern California, give her a call!

Ros Mackey Meet . . . . . . Rosalind Mackey

Rosalind organizes my Clinics in Ireland. I met Ros in 2003 at a clicker training camp in Washington State, USA, and we have worked together at some level ever since . Rosalind lives in Wicklow County Ireland with her husband Antony. Shes breeds Canamara ponies at her home in the beautiful hills of the glen of Imeal. Ros has an amazing way with horses and is often called in to help heal, rehab and  retrain horses from around the country. I'm looking forward to many more years of working with Rosalind in her gorgeous home land of Ireland.
Thanks for all your hard work!

 Golf ClubTai Chi for Golfers

Over the last 5 years I've been quietly applying the principals of Tai Chi to golf. It all started when a good freind who is an avid golfer asked if I could help relive his back pain. We soon discovered that the root problems with his back, knees and neck were the root problems with his golf game. Balance, timing and sensitivity are the results of being connect to the earth and finding your rythym they are not the results of stregnth of muscle, trying harder or having the right club.

Tai Chi is often refered to as movement meditaion. A calm mind and body are the very foundation of focus and power. Relaxed control of the body, a  meditative calmnes of the mind and a lazer sharp focus of your senses are the things that Tai Chi brings to your golf game. Something as simple as how you breath has a dramatic influence on the power, accuracy and consistancy of your swing.
Interested?  Give me a call!
