  Janmashtami -- Birth of Lord Krishna Thursday, September 2nd, 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. We will commemorate Janmashtami, the joyful celebration of Lord Krishna's birth, on Thursday, September 2nd. The service will begin at 7:00 p.m. with a meditation until 7:45, and a devotional service at 8:00 p.m. All may attend who appreciate the significance of the guru-disciple relationship and can participate with reverence. Please bring offerings of a flower, symbolizing devotion, and a monetary donation in an envelope as an expression of gratitude and loyalty to the work of Self-Realization Fellowship. We will also have flowers available at the chapel.

 Announcing an Additional Long Meditation Sunday, September 5th, 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. The San Francisco Meditation Group will begin hosting extended meditations on the first Sunday of every other month in addition to our regular services. This will be the first of these long meditations. We will commence with a prayer and a chant. At the top of each hour, there will be a chanting break for about 10 minutes. Entry and exit will be allowed only during this period. If you aspire to deepen your practice, take advantage of this chance for prolonged group meditation! You are warmly encouraged to join us on September 5th. |
 Chapel Retreat -- "The Spiritual Value of Gratitude" Saturday, September 11th, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Our quarterly 6-hour Chapel Retreat will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on September 11th. The theme will be The Spiritual Value of Gratitude, and will include group energization exercises, a recording by Daya Mataji on Thankfulness and a showing of her new DVD, Fulfilling the Soul's Deepest Needs. There will be a 30-minute break at 1:00 p.m. This is a wonderful opportunity to deepen your meditation in the company of other devotees.  Lahiri Mahasaya's Mahasamadhi -- Sunday, Sept. 26th Lahiri Mahasaya's Birthday -- Thursday, Sept. 30th We will observe the Mahasamadhi of Lahiri Mahasaya on Sunday, September 26th. On Thursday, September 30th, we will celebrate his birth.
