"Behold the Life that is behind all.  Look within yourself...  The searchlight of mind is fully equipped
to throw its superconscious rays into the innermost heart of Truth.  Use it to do so."

Monastic Visit
On Friday, March 5th, Brahmacharis Jason and Allen from the SRF Center Department visited beginning with an afternoon outing in Golden Gate Park.  The forecast of rain fortuitously did not materialize and we began with a stroll starting at the Conservatory of Flowers.  We continued through the Music Concourse, past the Japanese Tea Garden and into the beautiful San Francisco Botanical Garden at Strybing Arboretum.  Michael McKechnie, SFMG member and SF Botanical Garden Executive Director, conducted a tour of the gardens.  To conclude the program, we stopped for an early dinner at the de Young Café and enjoyed a panoramic view of San Francisco from the museum observation deck.
In the evening, our chapel program was a Meditation accompanied by our Kirtan Group, followed by a Satsang (answers to spiritual questions) with Brahmacharis Jason and Allen.  The evening concluded with a light meal.  A time of Divine Fellowship was enjoyed by all!
SRF Lesson Study Group
SFMG will begin having Lesson Study Nights on Wednesdays from 7:00 to 8:30 pm beginning April 21, 2010. We will be reading aloud all the Lessons in sequence, with one lesson read each week. Each person will read a couple paragraphs in turn. The intent is to attune ourselves to Master's teachings, and to support each other in undertaking this review, rather than sharing personal thoughts or interpretations of the Lessons. Those who attend must be currently taking or have completed the Lessons. You may join the Study Group at any time. Each person is asked to bring his or her own copy of the Lesson from which to read.  Those interested are encouraged to download and review the Group Study Guidelines from Mother Center. If you are interested in starting the Lessons, you can pick up a Lessons Application in the chapel, or download it from Mother Center here.

spacer World Convocation
August 1st through 7th, 2010
Self-Realization Fellowship cordially invites you to the 2010 Convocation. Thousands of SRF members from around the world will gather in Los Angeles for a profoundly inspiring week of spiritual renewal and fellowship, as we immerse ourselves in the teachings of our guru, Paramahansa Yogananda. For full details go to 2010 World Convocation.
Ride and Room Share List
There will be a sign up sheet on the bulletin board for those who would like to share a ride, and/or share a room for the Convocation.
"May we all realize the joy of such occasions as this Convocation, and receive such upliftment from these experiences that the darkness of ignorance may be forever dispelled by the beacon light of that joy."
-- Paramahansa Yogananda
Consider Pledging a Monthly Donation
Our chapel is supported by your donations. Please consider pledging an amount that is affordable for you, and that you would be willing to donate each month to support the chapel and the work of Self-Realization Fellowship. An average pledge of $15 a week by 30 of us (or $20 a week by 25 of us) would meet our basic expenses.
You need not tell anyone of your decision or the amount, and you can change it at any time.
Those who make a donation by check will receive a confidential summary statement at the end of the calendar year showing the amount that they have donated for their tax filing.
Thanks to Our Generous Members
First, our sincere thanks to all who have helped us equip our chapel office. A computer, mouse, flat screen monitor, wireless router, telephone, software and even a copier have all been donated by members. Our thanks also for the beautiful pictures of Master that now adorn the entryway. We appreciate all the things that you do, large and small, to help make our chapel a wonderful spiritual home.
Our chapel collected $1,011 to help support the people of Haiti. The funds were sent to Oxfam and you can read about their work in Haiti here. It is a joy to be able to help others. Thank you for your generosity.
If you have any of the following items that you would be willing to donate, please see our Facilities Manager, Dave Fleming, or any member of the Council.
  • Sound Equipment
  • Large Flat Screen Television
  • DVD player and Videotape player

spacer All Day Chapel Retreat
San Francisco Meditation Group will be conducting an all-day retreat on Saturday, June 12 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Retreat activities will include group practice of the Energization Exercises, a guided meditation, kirtan, a recorded talk and a video by an SRF renunciant. All are welcome and deeply encouraged to take this opportunity to deepen your spiritual practice and fortify your spiritual convictions through fellowship and group meditation with others seeking Self-Realization.
"Be silent and calm [in meditation] every night for at least half an hour, preferably much longer, before you retire, and again in the morning before starting the day's activity. This will produce an undaunted, unbreakable inner habit of happiness that will make you able to meet all the trying situations of the everyday battle of life. With that unchangeable happiness within, go about seeking to fulfill the demands of your daily needs."
-- Paramahansa Yogananda in "Where There is Light"
Chair Committee
We are seeking members to serve on a Chair Committee. We have set a goal of replacing some or all of our chairs by the end of 2010. Center Department has given us contact information for other Meditation Groups who have purchased chairs in the past 5 years. These Groups have been very generous in sharing information with us. If you would be able to help with this project, please see Pam Hagen or email her.
