First WheatonPipe Organ Concerts 
 
Please join us at First Presbyterian Church of Wheaton as we showcase the new sounds of the expanded pipe organ after its eight-week restoration. All concert events are free and open to the public. More info.
  • David Schrader, premier organist of Chicago's orchestra hall, will kick off the pipe organ celebration with a concert on Sunday, April 22nd at 4:00 P.M.
  • Concert "Alive in God's Grace," featuring First Presbyterian musicians and The Gargoyle Brass will perform on Sunday, May 6 at 4:00 P.M.
  • The Rising Stars of the Pipe Organ Encounter will perform Monday, June 4 at 8:00 P.M.

Richard & Trish Bruxvoort-Colligan are leading a workshop "Congregational Song in the 21st Century" followed by a concert of their rich music--drawing upon contemporary musical styles with theological depth & integrity. NOTE the changes from the usual Worship Alive! format:
  • this is one-day only--Saturday--at Presbyterian Church of Western Springs
  • time is 3:00 pm for the workshop, 5:30 pm for the concert, April 28

Workshop on Harrisburg tornado recovery
Church World Service

Rev. Bryan Crousore, an emergency response specialist with Church World Service, will conduct a free workshop on "Long-Term Recovery from Disasters" for clergy and community members who are helping people affected by the tornado in Harrisburg, IL.

The workshop will take place on May 2 from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Zion United Church of Christ, 930 West Cherry St., in Marion, Ill.

It will cover topics such as organizing a long-term recovery committee, identifying needs caused by the tornado and using appropriate resources to meet these needs. No registration is necessary to attend the workshop and all are welcome. More info.

Higgins Scholarship Accepting Applications

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:  Must be a half-time student. Seminary or Ph.D. level with special consideration being given to M.Div. students preparing for the parish ministry.  Priority is given to second year students and beyond. 

 

BASIS OF AWARDS:  Grants of up to $5,000 (and at least $2,000) will be made, based on financial need, vocational fitness, plan of study and ecclesiastical connection.

With no minimum salary, no continuing education or travel allowances, many cannot currently afford to go.
